Looking to quit on a potential franchise that's already made more money than most people were expecting?

Yeah, if that were me, I'd bee looking for any excuse in the book to get out of it...

GOOD RIDDANCE, maybe we'll get robots that don't look like walking piles of scrap, and we won't have to wait almost an entire hour before any robots show up on screen.

And when the robots fight they could maybe KEEP THE CAMERA STILL SO WE CAN SEE WHAT'S HAPPENNING...

Playing devil's advocate here ... what's wrong with Bay wanting to make more money by having the DVDs available for all 3 formats: regular DVD, HD-DVD and Blu-Ray DVD? I agree that it's a poor decision on behalf of the various major companies to only offer up one format on the next generation DVD players, but I don't see how you can fault Bay for wanting to make more money. I agree with Bay about Blu-Ray, but I disagree with him about his tactic.

Ah well, it provides good Tuesday morning Internet drama. Wiiiiiiii!!!!!!!!!!!

well, its not fair that he acts like a five year old (not to say that i didnt) over some stupid thing as a platform it's so obvious that he wants more money for transformers than he deserves while the fans have to suffer a loss of tf2.

No, don't start rumors like that. At this time Michael Bay is saying he will not direct TF2.

Yeah, Bay is just saying he won't do Transformers 2 if there's not a Blu-Ray DVD release. That doesn't mean there won't be a Transformers 2, it just means that Bay won't be doing it. Paramount/Dreamworks would just hire a different director.

I hope TF2 doesent look like Robocop 3, or Superman 3, or god forbid Superman 4. Change of director is almost never good for Si-fi, and comic book based movies. Although X3 was good, but they killed a buncha people off... :?

Only time will tell.

Thanks Paramount!
We can already say that TF2 (should it ever see the light) will be just a bad sequel... just like most sequels...

AND... now I will try to hunt down an illegal copy because with PS3 I have Blu-Ray... and I am not going to buy a new player just because they feel like making poopy announcements!
Way to go to try to ban piracy!!!

You're misreading the story. There will most definitely 100% be a Transformers 2. Bay is just saying that he won't direct it. Paramount and Dreamworks will find another director if Bay steps aside.

If there is a new director I say, it could work.

It's worked in the past with movies such as Harry Potter which did not really lose a step even though directorship has changed hands what, four times?

TF2 can still happen...

Why are you bashing Bay for being a proponent of the best HD format out there? Do you really want to go another ten years where the industry standard is crappier that what could have been (VHS was crap compared to betamax)?

Good for Bay. He did a good job with the movie, revived the corpse that is this franchise, and now he's defending capitalism.

Good for him.

Well this sucks.

I personally like Micheal Bay's movies and i will tell anyone to piss off if they try to tell me otherwise.

However i think this is a bit stupid and a harsh knee-jerk decision to make just because his movie isnt being released on the lame, overkill, not needed Sony crap format that is Blu-ray.

Lets just clear one thing up though: Will Transformers be released on NORMAL DVD? The way these articles are worded it makes it sound as if there will be no NORMAL DVD release. If that happens i will have to kill someone, or worse still get a bootleg.

To start such a rumour is just cruel and ignorant and retarded because DVD hasnt been replaced yet, as few people actually have HD-DVD.

I am glad I am not the only one who dislikes Micheal Bay. He is by far one of the most pompus, arrogant asses I have seen in this business. He flip flops so much I don't even think he knows what he wants to do. As for the HD DVD issue, this will only bite Paramount in the butt, and once they realize that I am sure they will offer Blu Ray as well as normal.

Ah, true. But he's great when the concept's good. There are a lot of good guys out there too.

Next thread: who will be directing TF2. It's probably up already...

Umm, yeah. I guess Mikey standing up for blue ray customers is cool and all, but seeing as I dont have blue ray and am not quite sure what that is to begin with, Im okay with that.

No Bay for the sequal might lead to a movie with a........plot, yes thats what I meant to say. Maybe a lil preflash into the Cybertronian war on Cybertro? Eh, eh? sounds good eh? Bay wouldn't have done that.

Can't wait for the NEW Optimus and Co. which will be inevitable with new direction. MORE movie toys to buy and like the senseless little drone I am I'll buy them.

CP's right though, they'll flash the cash and Bay will be back.

I'm sure I said I wouldn't quit doing it either, if I were in the situation. At least I tried to say. I just thought that maybe he's afraid of doing a sequel, which always has the risk of not being as big as the first one. It wouldn't be the first time when sequel was directed by someone else than the first one's director, either. Also, he's probably at highest point of his career so far now, so he might be having his eyes on some other project too.

I'm not saying it makes perfect sense, but there might be reasons for not wanting to do second movie. Of course, all that is just some nonsensical stuff from my head, so don't take it too seriously.

[oot] Well, regardless of how "poorly" or how he "destroyed, ruined, or crushed" the vision of how any of the 'Formers fans felt the movie should look and be like, I personally think he did a pretty damn bang up job on it! Sure, there not giant blocks, but there still cars that turn into 30, 40, 50 foot (or higher) robots. Let's face it, it was made not only for the fans of the old stuff, but for a new generation of fans as well.

[ot] Meh, I think straight up not making a second one is a foolish idea. Good thing that' not what we're here to talk about, huh? I would hate to see how a second director would ruin it...oh, wait ya'all would whine about that too wouldn't ya? (admit it, ya'all would, so don't even try to deny it!)

Anywho, I feel switching to a new director when (not if) the second movie is made would be a bad decicion too.

I'm sure paramount will try to get him back, they'll try. I mean, wouldn't you if he had made that movie for you?

Again, just my two cents.

(besisdes, maybe they'll get'em back by adding blu-ray nto the deal? not like I use blu-ray...I dunno what it is, so I care not about it)

suckers, don't you all get it he said he will not direct transformers 2 if paramount will only make transformers for high-def because he wants his movie watchers to see it in full high-def, he wants blu-ray users to use it on blu-ray and hd-dvd users to use it on high def.
