And, again, they're "alien" robots. We Earthlings have our visions of what robots tends to look like, so it's likely that those of other planets have their own visualization for robotic design.
Why must something not originally from the Planet Earth resemble a design that is easily recognized as originating from the Planet Earth?
I mean, realistically speaking, extraterrestrial lifeforms originating from locations far off away from the Earth wouldn't be surprising to appear in forms beyond our typical comprehension and comfort zones of how aliens should look.
And these movies try to go for such an approach. Yet, there are still very obvious design cues that still stem from Earthly designs due to the natural limitations of the human imagination when trying to draw away from the familiar and into the unknown.
