I was expecting this, just not this soon.

When they said a trilogy was needed to pay for the costs of the first film, alone...I knew it was going to happen, just not this soon.

Just curious, Have you seen the movie yet?

I've seen enough of the trailers to be stick of of it already.

Never mind the casting...

Never mind that Bay can't tell a story in a movie to safe his life...

Never mind the fact that Bay did not want to make a 'toy movie'(his actual words), and what is transformers but toy related(Transformers isn't what it all started as... Diaclone)...

Never mind Wal-mart has already set the toys to go on clearance in their system 1 week after the film. Reason they aren't selling as promised and they need the room for merchandise that they know will sell(Harry Potter)(Source: My local wal-mart, happened to see him and an associate working in the toy department)...

If I had the time this morning I'd do a full list, but thats just a start. What some more? Click the Click me in my sig.

Maybe your Wal-mart, not over by me for sure. No store can keep the TF movie toys on the shelves for real long. And I've read here on the site that from the money from the foreign premiers and toy sales, they got more than enough to warrant doing a sequel. But hey, nothing's gonna change your mind. Just face it, the movie is gonna do well, there will be a sequel, and there's not a whole lot you can do about it.

Given the fact most Wal-Marts haven't even marked down what's remaining of their Classics and even Cybertron stock, let's just say I find this highly unlikely. That, and the fact there are a lot of empty shelves in various parts of the country. And they would have already cleared out room for the Potter merchandise, given how close it is to release. I supect any "clearance" in the system is more likely a sale.

As far as the sequel goes, I'm not terribly surprised. The film is almost assured to make its budget back, with no major competition. With Paramount and Dreamworks also seeing a piece of the profits from the merchandise, it's going to be a profitable movie.

What happens with the sequel should be interesting. After all, Bay's talking about Prince of Persia, which would likely keep him away from Transformers(whether that's a negotiations ploy or serious interest, we'll see). If Bay does move on, it would be interesting to see where they might go. There's a lot of Transformers history they can tap into, and adapt into the "movieverse". And chances are good, if the first film does well enough, they'll take more chances with the second script. I'll be interested to see what they do with it.

wow i just watched the movie this morn... they DID set the stage for a sequel, esp with the epilogue scene. However a few character deaths MIIIGHT make it difficult for some aspects to be introduced.

this means transformers 1 will end with a cliffhanger and one HELL of a wait.

this also means there will be a third. try to think of a movie that had a "sequal" but not a "threequal"

Yeah, I think this is a great bit of news, and not having seen the first movie yet since it hasn't opened, I pledge already to see the second one when it does, if for no other reason than just to spite all the complainers.

I think I argued my point to a decent conclusion.

These guys didn't try to make it better. Instead they actually made it worse- and prettier. Together that evens out into an average movie. And I don't think anyone stands up and says, "Man, I'd like to go see an average movie."

Yet that's what they gave us. Bumblepee. Anyone who thought that was a great idea- so great that they put it in the movie- They're flat out morons. Even the cartoons didn't have Transformers peeing. I bet if you asked a Marvel writer, or artist, to stick that into one of the comics, they'd smack you.

And SpielBay rocks.

Nuff said.

We know Bumblebee takes a piss on some Sector 7 agents. (Can you even call it that? Did he drink anything beforehand?)

You can stop reminding us now. Find something else to cry about.

I could give you a list- but I think I'll stick with the Bumblepee- because, well, it's so darn perfect.

"Screamwave" heh.

Like the kick-ass designs, or focusing on relatable characters? Or the fact that Sam runs like a football player to get away from Megatron? Or that Jazz dies?

Becasue those things kick ass!

People should probably wait till the initial hype/praise for the first movie has died out and everyone has had chance to see it and process it before acting like this announcement is the second coming of Christ.
