Transformers has Broken $150 Million Domestically!

Boxofficemojo.com has estimate weekend totals so far putting Transformers at $152,500,000 domestically and $188,753,961 world wide totals. I also think it should be higher as the world wide contribution hasn't changed all week. What this means though is that the movie is profitable in less than a full week of release!
Congratulations Transformers team!

Wow, this movie is alot more successful than I thought it would be! And I thought it was going to be very very successful!
150$ million in less than a week is an enormous opening, and just the awesomeness of the CGI is enough for this film to deserve this kind of cash! Now let's see if this movie has legs, especially against Harry Potter...

Yeah you're right. I didn't expect it either... But hey I'm glad I was wrong.
So this means a 188 million for this weekend, excluding the rest of the world.. hmmm. It could easily get near the 200 million.

Hopefully, they can do a $250 million sequel. More robots, more Cybertron, more action, etc. Oh, hells yeah.

I'm not expecting the sequel to get that much money. I was more thinking like 180-200 million. Probably the latter... The movie already did so good, more people will view the sequel anyway.

i'm no movie/special effects expert but....wouldnt the sequel cost a little less than this one or least less than expected. i havent seen the movie yet (seeing it in about 2hrs) but whatever character survives...well they already have their models and stuff in the computer...so wouldnt that affect the budget at all?
i'm probably wrong and thats stupid reasoning but hey...i'm blonde, french AND canadian....cant blame me

Good news for the TF crew. Yeah They already have several of the completed CGI models already done. They can create a few more, or use the ones they have, re-color them . Then you'd have a whole new slew of Transformers to go.
Heres hoping Arcee and Wreckage and Prowl at the least are in it.

I'm talking about the studio spending $250 million on a sequel, not the sequel making $250 million. Just to be clear about things.
It's not going to have any trouble making money. It's gonna do near a $1 billion, easily.

Don't forget that the 2 largest box office contributers outside of North America, the UK and Japan, are not getting the movie until late July and early August, so expect a large jump to the overall gross then. I'm guessing a total of $600-650 million by closing.

Wans´t AK who said that if TF won a Oscar he would eat his entire colection?
Guesse he has been laying low. I remeber him critizing the movie at every turn.

I dunno, I think that's a little overly optimistic. $600 million sounds more reasonable. Although I still think it won't break $200 million domestically.
