I would love to see him in Part 2, He has always been my fav Decepticon. I understand why they left him out but what could be done with him to bring him into the films? I was thinking of like a MP3 player like an Ipod problem there is no tapes, also I was thinking of a labtop computer but he would be small. Anybody have any good Ideas?

The problem is making him a tape deck is out of date, What else could he transform into to make him a current peice of technology yet keep him as he was in the cartoon? And if they gave him some version of his tapes what would they be? I am sure they will make some car, truck, or aircraft and call it Soundwave. But my question is what would work for the film but stay true to the original character?

Well, Soundwave's function in the series was that of communicator, and he can detect and jam communications. Soundwave could transform into a communications array or a military vehicle that specializes in communications, and he can eject Lazerbeak or Ravage like Blackout did with Scorponok.

He could be an AWACS plane...

A non-mass-shifting Soundwave would work best in communications truck form. The windshield would go where his tapedeck usually is, keeping some visual character integrity.

That is, if the movie makers actually cared about that.

Well if, for instance you give Megatron mass shifting power via the All Spark one could argue that if you make Soundwave and Shockwave the ones that revive him during the process as Megs comes out of stasis lock a blast of energy strikes both Soundwave and Shockwave giving them the mass shifting ability.

Its a stretch but it could work. If you did this then Shockwave would be a Gun, Megatron would probably be a cannon, and Soundwave could be a MP3/CD player and his minions would be CDs.

Otherwise the other two things that you could do is make Soundwave a plane and his minions are his bombs, like that one Soundwave variant that came out recently, or Soundwave is a communications truck, as was mentioned earlier, and I suppose his seats could be his minions.

yea i would LOVE to see lazerbeak as part of soundwave, similar to scorponok and blackout. if done right lazerbeak could be really cool.
