The humor in this movie

I thought most of the humor in this movie basically amounted to "schtick"- something that is just tacked on for the purpose of getting a cheap laugh. The humor, for the most part, didn't flow from the story. Yeah there were some parts, like Sam's initial awkwardness around Megan Fox's character, that really worked because they were believable and relevant to what was going on.
But for the most part, that wasn't the case. Most of the humor was inconsistent with the nature of the characters: "My bad", "Wassup bitches", John Turturro's snippy government agent, Anthony Anderson's wisecracking ethnic person, the whole masturbation bit, and Frenzy's jar-jar-ness. The movie would have worked just as well, probably even better, without all that forced humor. You can jump through hoops to say how X joke justified Y cause, but in the end this is bad comedy.

Personally, I thought the comedy was good it wasn't really out of place. It was like they knew when to get serious, but gave us some comedy to non hardcore fans like it.
Now see In my opinoin Spiderman 3 overdid it with the comedy later in the movie.

"Judging by the boy's pheremone levels, he wants to mate with the female." - Ratchet.
That line was awesome. Yeah some of the comedy blew, but considering the extremely young crown Bay was aiming this film at, while trying to keep die hard old coots like myself happy, I can understand it.
I wish Ironhide did kill the dog though.

According to you. I hate the way people have to tell others what is good or bad comedy. Why is your opinion better than the rest of us. I admit there was too much comedy, but do you have to be the defining word on what works in a movie?
Heh sorry, I was just trying to make a reference to the animated movie with the "bad comedy" bit.

I thought it was just simple 80s comedy, you know, stuff that's not really sophisicated, but still gets a laugh, like the mas...b...ation bit.

Of course that would never happen. The dog never dies.

I thought it was a well funny film, funnier than a lot of comedies I've seen, and the audience liked it as well, so I really don't know where some people come from on here.

I thought the humor was what made the movie especially considering the enormous plot holes. I'm a die hard G1er and I actually liked movie Ironhide a million times more than G1 toon Ironhide. It wasn't a great movie but the special effects and humor have convinced me to buy it when it's out on DVD.

I thought the humor was great. It was a serious movie, but still funny enough to be downright hillarious. I think it was a nice combination of the two. They used it well. You're supposed to do that in a really good movie; get the crowd tensed up from some small stressful situation, and then release the tension with a little humor, so that you don't have such a constant, nonstop climax. It just worked well. The audience when I went to see it all three times so far was really enjoying it. lol
