The Autobot arrival/introduction sequence

...best sequence in the film?

I think so.

Great match of camera angles and great theme by Jablonsky.

Love those 'meteor' shots and Prime driving in to meet Bumblebee and the gang.

Bay is so good at doing those types of moments, the mix of stirring theme and camera angles, no one does that better.

That was certainly good stuff. After they did all their intros and Transformered back, all in that one shot, I didnt have time to soak each bots transformation! Can't wait for the dvd!

Though I wish there was more of that, more shots of bots Transforming, full body views, not just these close ups, thats one of hte main reasons i love transformers, was because of watching full body shots of transformations.

But, I'm sure its more expensive to do all that, so I understand and take what I can get.

Starscream going crazy on those jets was great though. THat's gona be another slow-mo moment for me and my dvd!

I would liked a more G1 way of landing on earth..., as said for some people, that seems some footage of their previous Armageddon... :?

If the Bots are a kind of commando, what a bad way of landing all totally separated... :???:

Here could be introduced a spaceship...

I like how they can travel through space without relying on a spaceship. It's a different take on the whole thing. Makes them also seem more powerful.

BTW, the Autobots' arrival and introduction was the best scene for me, apart from the fight between Prime and Megatron.

I personally don't like the fact that they can just fly through space willy nilly...that must take up a hell of alot of energon.

I agree it was the best scene. it felt like hope has arrived to save the world or something.

In my opinion the music was what brought the scene to life, and i'm glad they showed them choose their forms.

ironhid landed in the pool, rachet landed in the street, Jazz landed in a open field, so
wasn't Optimus the one that landed in the Baseball staduim?

The Autobots DO come from AN Ark. The Autobot Fleet is composed of Many Arks. In the Prequel novel, the ark isn't far from Earth. The nemesis is near mars.

They don't travel thru space in Protoform. It's the Landing method. They land like Paratroopers and their protoforms are their "chutes".

I just saw it again last night and from the way the sequence was CUT it goes like this.

Prime - field
Ratchet - city
Ironhide - pool
Jazz - stadium

Like I said, thats how it was cut, I'm not sure if thats how they intended it to be.

That is correct. We know Ironhide and Ratchet for sure because they are seen immediately after they hit. I'm assuming there aren't any car dealerships in the open field so Jazz has to be the one to land in the stadium. :D

the script says that jazz lands in the stadium and ratchet on the street...

Prime is definitely in the open field. It's pretty much by chance that he assimilates the truck mode; the Peterbilt just happens to be passing by on the road.

He was just lucky that Pete was driving by, otherwise he would have had to wait until another vehicle with his mass drove by. They scan vehicles that have the same mass as them so they can hide, otherwise there would be that mass-shifting Bay didn't want.

It is my personal favorite scene. I especially like the part where Ironhide climbs out of the pool. The music and everything just make it epic.

Best scene in the movie. I personally thought it was more signature Speilburg, than it was Bay.

The part of Prime flleeing through the field was awesome.

Question:

Did the Autobots arrive in pods? Or were those pod shape things actually their Cybertronian alt modes..?

There were no pods in the crater after they got up and left. So they must transform into pods for travel. I dont care for this concept at all. Only thing that gets me annoyed really. I choose to believe they were in pods. So I can sleep.

It definately was the best scene in the movie, the kid with the My Little Pony almost ruined it with the tooth fairy joke though. :p

There is no doubt to me that "The Arrival" scene is the best. The fights were great and all, but that scene was just so emotional. I watched G1 religiously when I was growing up and, even though I am now 26 years old, knowing that Optimus and company were comming was heart-swelling.

And I did not know that about the Arks. I saw the prequel novel in the store but the cover looks so cheap and I didn't know the author so I didn't think to get it. And Amazon.com's user reviews were also rather poor. Do you guys think the book was worth it?

It has its good points. Lot more interaction with the Decepticons and stuff. Could use less humans, but whaddyagonnado?

Read the prequel novel, The Ark is near Earth orbit, and the Nemesis near mars. There pods are like paratroopers. They land using their bodies.

This occured to me after I posted.

In the Prequel COMIC BOOK, Megatron seems to arrive to Earth without any ship at all. Granted, he arrived so depleted of energon that he crashed in the arctic and went dormant. So it seems they are CAPABLE of traveling very far without ships...It just doesn't seem very advisable. We also see Starscream, at the end of the movie, shoot off into space in his plane form. Though, I am sure he was headed towards that ship you guys say is near Mars.
