Which Autobots Do you Think Should Be Called In to Tip the Balance of Power?

okay honestly, the decepticons were overpowered in this movie. Not just megatron. Starscream took out both ratchet and ironhide singlehandedly. On top of what Megatron could do, it was insane. With that being said, the Autobots are obviously in need of some firepower to even things out, so what autobots in your opinions would go well into the movie and help even things out?

We know that the dinobots are a possiblity which is a good thing, but what other likely candidates could there be?

...you did notice that the Autobots were very distinctly alive by the end of the movie, right? And that a bunch of the Decepticons were scrap metal?

I can live with the changes made to the characters, but if they don't keep the same awful character design and voice for Wheelie I will personally boycott the movie! ;)

It would be ironic in a way if that happened.

If they want something to turn the humans on the Autobots, Wheelie is definitely the go.

Put in Omega Supreme or the Dinobots. They're pretty good at what they do.

Honestly though, Optimus Prime himself is the best chance against the Decepticons anyhow.

If it were the Dinobots, the humans would be like "HOLY ****, JURASSIC PARK IS TRUE!"

Dinobots would be awesome in the movie. **** the people who want to enforce a bad sense of "Realism" on this, Grimlock scans vehicles and life forms, finds them pathetic, scans T-Rex, finds it awesome. No more need for explanation.

You could always make them triple changers with vehicle modes(the dinos would be made out of the vehicle). or maybe have the bot mode be standing on hind legs with the head making arms and a new head underneath, so not really fully 2 bot modes
.

I want to say Ultra Magnus, but I wouldn't like it so much if he was just a white clone of Optimus.
Trailbreaker as a Chevy Avalanche (as most the Autobots will likely still be GMC's)
Mirage.

Maybe Grimlock could be this guy: http://monsterphoto.iwarp.com/robo.htm

I'm joking.

What do you mean "Agreed"? There wasn't even an argument there, just a lump of patronising, pessimistic, fan-hating, know-it-all bullshit compressed into a single word. SIGH isn't a good enough reason to count out a huge and much loved part of the TF Mythos.

Again, **** realism. Realism should be how you do things, how you present them, not what you're doing or presenting.
Heroes is ridiculously unrealistic - it succeeds not by appealing on a scientific or even well developed fantasy basis, but by appealing to our sense that deep down, we feel that some of these things MUST be possible.

Dinobots obviously appeal to something rather different - but the idea is the same - as long as it's a captivating and amazing enough idea that's well executed, and presented in a way that flows with the world it's inserted into, it will work.

Scorponok was cool and so would Grimlock be. There's no difference between the two, except that giant dinosaurs make more sense than giant scorpions. The same goes for mass-shifting - you shouldn't leave it out just because it's "Unrealistic", you should just do it in a way that makes sense within the context of the universe. I despise the people that want to strip all the elements of what gave TFs their identity over other Transforming robots. A giant robot turning into a tape deck worked because it was cool It wouldn't be as cool nowadays, but it'd still be pretty cool since 95% of people still know what a tape deck is(like the IDW comics, have him crash in the 80s, IMO, TFs may have been better set in that era to begin with). It appeals of a sense of fear that everyday items could suddenly become monstrous things.

You're all talking **** - none of you have seen or made a Mass-shifting live action Transformer, or a Dinobot produced to the same level of detail as the movie Transformers. How is Grimlock any less ridiculous than Godzilla, or more appropriately, Mecha Godzilla?

You can't prove or provide real hard evidence for ANY of what you're saying, same deal with the movie designs not being more like TFs used to look like(change isn't always good).

There is just so much "Mundane" bullshit, I can't stand it any more. I want Dinobots. I want Mass-shifting. Maybe you think you don't, but I know that if you saw it done in a way that was cool and made sense, you would.

I want to see Grimlock (not necessarily the rest of the dinobots).

Particularly I want to see Grimlock face off with Bludgeon (WHo with any luck could be a Chrysler 300 SRT). Because I think the clash of styles would be most interesting, and bludgeon is the best example of dedicated refined skilled badassery among the decepticons to counter Grimlock's Brute force.

THough mainly I want the second movie to have darker more subversive deceptiocons, I really think having Starscream bring the con's to Earth then having to run from them when Barricade confirms Screamer shots megs is a good setup, plus you could follow it through by having Starscream use his manipulative/ scheming/charismatic side on the Racheal Taylor character (who you could play as being burnt out after getting fired at the end of the first movie).

Plus Starscream really does have a decent amount of appeal to the female fans and female audiences so it would work well (not to mention the joke potential).

Plus if we have a hiding in shadows being subversive plot, then we get Nightbeat and Siren as givens.

i think we need some air capable autobots like skyfire or springer or even a new one.

Personally, I'd love to see Skyfire brought in as a Decepticon, then betray Starscream and join the autobots. It would give Starscream plenty of screen time (which he was severely lacking) and also showcase his personality. Really, if you knew nothing of Starscream's character would you have ever guess he wanted to replace Megatron? Or anything about him, for that matter, besides he was evil? Just imagine the aerial battles Skyfire and Starscream would have!

Springer would be an interesting idea. If you really wanted to go into the character vault, you could give the autobots some military bots, like Hardhead (minus the Headmaster gimmick), Warpath (minus the idiotic voice) or even a newer design like CD Scattershot. Getting some more car bots like Prowl, Sunstreaker or Sideswipe would be an interesting idea as well.

Right. Because one would instead be a Ferrari.
