Many Seibertronians have reached out to let us know of the sad news that Linkin Park lead singer Chester Bennington has died at age 41.

His body was found in the LA area this morning and the coroner has stated hanging as the cause of death, as we learnt from bbc news.

Chester Bennington leaves behind an incredible legacy. He is best known as the lead singer of Linkin Park, a band that has sold more than 70 million albums worldwide and has two Grammy Awards to their name. The band also contributed to the first three Transformers live action movie soundtracks, with What I've Done (Transformers), New Divide (Revenge of the Fallen), and Iridescent (Dark of the Moon).

The staff of Seibertron.com would like to offer our most sincere condolences to Bennington's family, his loved ones and the other band members. Also, for anyone who may find themselves heading down a dark path spiral, please reach out and talk to someone - even if you may not know people on Seibertron.com face to face, you will always find support on this site.

In celebration of Bennington's memory, we invite you to check out his great contribution to the Transformers brand with the following songs mentioned above.

Sad to hear. I used to really like meteora and hybrid theory back in the day.

RIP Chester.

Va'al sums up how I feel.

I just want to put it out there, for anyone who may find themselves heading down a dark path, reach out and talk to someone. Even if it's a bunch of fellow Transformer fans you've never met face to face, you will ALWAYS find support on this website.

Agreed. Its always better to reach out. I'd be sad to loose anyone I have interacted with on here.

I will leave a link here, that has suicide hotlines world wide in case anyone needs them or wants to keep them as a reference to help others. It can be hard to reach out to one's peers so hotlines are often a good resource.

So many good fan-made TF videos were made using these songs. Hope it will continue for a long time to come, and sad we wont be hearing anything new.

I was quite impressed with my kids when I would listen to the local rock station in the car, one of LP's songs would come on and they'd ay "Hey its the guys from Transformers" ;)

I only really know the band through their involvement with the films and those tunes will instantly take me back to the films.

I'm no expert but there seems to be a theme running through those three tunes in the videos shown above. If they were all written by Bennington I wonder if they were an indication of his state of mind.

So sad when a person reaches the conclusion that this is the best course of action. I hope the family and friends can take some comfort from the support from people around the world.

He's never shied away from discussing his battles with depression, alcoholism, drugs etc.

And that is also very much the case with the latest album release, with a very different sound, but the themes are recognisable.

What I'm about to say is something that I've only told a few people, but I feel I can confide in the people here. When I was in Elementary school, I contemplated committing suicide for reasons that are typical of ones with such thoughts. There were only three reasons that I didn't go through with it: (1) I knew that if I had, I wouldn't be able to see any new transformers that would come out, (2) I have an intense fear of pain, and (3) the music of Linkin Park seemed to illustrate what I was feeling at the time. I know a lot of people say how their idols "got them through tough times" and frankly, it's getting kinda annoying hearing it everywhere, in my opinion, but Jesus. If there was ever a time for me to be a hypocrite, I suppose it would be now. LP is one of the main reasons why I'm even still alive, and to hear this about Chester...I just don't know how to comprehend it. I'm sorry for getting all edgy on you guys, but I needed to say something. Linkin Park was, is, and always will be, an enormous part of my life, so I'm rather distraught.

'Till all are one, -Steven T.

P.S.- I'm not going to even think about "ending it," so don't worry.

That was an extremely brave message, and thank you for sharing it with us. Good to hear that things are much better now, too.

And don't feel hypocritical - LP are and have been a gigantic influence, even in their detractors (I am, every now and then) on many, many people.

When I heard this, I was truly heartbroken.

I've been a fan of theirs nearly since day 1. Back then I was a silly white boy who listened to nothing but gangster rap. My tastes would eventually shift to metal and punk, and they were the ones who bridged the gap. Not to mention, their depressing lyrics disturbingly reflected how I felt at the time as well. I think I've been struggling with depression since I was 12, but listening to LP's stuff made me hyper aware of it. I know all too well what kind of dark things can go through a suicidal persons head, and I think I can say (listening to their first 3 albums) that the person who wrote those songs, was not a healthy person. Listening to it, I naively never thought of the writer as someone suffering.

Quite recently, just the last couple months actually, I've turned a huge corner myself away from my depression. I find it almost impossible to fathom that I could find the help I need, being just a normal blue collar dude, and Chester couldn't. Someone like that has so much at their disposal and (seemingly) so many people around them that it boggles the mind. But I also know, that no matter how much intervention takes place it's ultimately their decision to accept that help, and choose to try. I didn't start to get better until I took it upon myself that I had to change.

It's beyond sad that he couldn't find his way out of that mind cancer labyrinth, either with others help or by himself. I'm the opposite of religious, but I hope you're at peace Chester.

I have had my own battles with anxiety and depression. Things have gotten better for me but I still have off days now and then which I think is normal for anyone. Growing up with anxiety was really rough. I think now that I am grown I have a bigger world view and a better support system.

I did listen to Linkin Park and even back then I was pretty sure Chester had problems. I can say that he did amazing things with his life even though it was cut short. I'm sad his struggle didn't have a happy ending but I think his music did help people and that this will bring awareness to others who have problems.

I will say that to anyone that is struggling do seek help. And if that help isn't working keep looking, different resources suit different people. Sometimes what works for most people doesn't for others so don't give up.

...man, this caught me off guard. I had just rediscovered LP about a week before this happened, I hadn't heard their music since I was twelve...of course, back then I had no idea about the themes in their songs, because I couldn't make out the lyrics. Not their fault, I had that problem with most music back then.

As for the suicide...I don't think I can add much. While I have had battles with anxiety and depression, I've always has an instinctual, almost irrational and debilitating fear of dying. So, I never really considered ending it all. Still, I have known people who've had their own battles - in fact, I've had to talk one particular friend out of cutting his life short - but I feel like I can't say anything that hasn't already been said.

Rest in peace, Chester. You are already missed.
