The reason Transformers has made more than harry Potter SO FAR is because TF has been out a week longer.

EDIT: Did you even look at Opening Weekend? Harry Potter made $7 Million more than TF.

Umm...

Harry Potter has been out for like 5 days.

Transformers has been out for almost 2 full weeks.

If anything, it's indication that Harry Potter is actually kicking Transformers's ass, since it's got a bigger total after 5 days than Transformers did.

I watched the Potter movie, and it was good for a one time watch at the movie theater. I've already seen Transformers twice and I'll probably sneak out (shhhhh... don't tell the wife) to see it again.

In the end, I think Transformers will get a lot of repeat business as well as selling alot of merchandise (pre-ordering my ultimate bumblebee soon!). We'll see how Potters number go into week two.

Exactly.

You can't compare movie figures when one has been open five days and the other for over two weeks.

Obviously the one open for over two weeks has an advantage. I mean ... that's just logical. Isn't it?

I always knew Transformers would lose this battle. But I am surprised at the fight it is putting up.

Yeah, I'm impressed too! 36$ million is an good number for any opening weekend, and this is Transformers' second weekend AND it was up against Harry Potter which is itself an enormous blockbuster.

So, all things considered, Transformers came out of this weekend pretty strong considering it's competition!

I'm more than sure that HP will knock TF out of it's place, but beat it overall? I'm not entirely sure.

While HP is tremendously popular, I've noticed that some of it's popularity has declined. I've seen a few of my friends (who were gigantically insane fans) do a complete 180 and just drop it altogether.

When asked why, they said "Well, it's missing the fun it had in the beginning, and it's becoming boring."

No, none of them became TF fans, but it was surprising to see them change like that. Hell, they didn't even get tickets for the new movie, and they had seen every single one since the beginning, plus had 'em on DVD. (Which they all sold off as well.)

I think, if anything, they'll run neck and neck. Either way, I'm surprised TF was embraced as it has been. O_o
