Prime's rank is 10. Jazz and Ironhide are 8, if I'm not mistaken. Is there any Autobot who is ranked 9?

Not in the movie. But Prime does say Jazz is his second in command.

It's strange, because it seems that Jazz would have other Autobots under his command, although they don't appear in this movie. Also, Arcee would be under Ironhide's command since she received training from him. I just wonder why there is no Autobot ranked 9. Ultra Magnus, perhaps?

Thanks to Jazz, leads me to hope the main Autobot force is larger than what we saw.

For the cartoon, second commander:
In season 1/2 it's either Jazz or Ironhide, or even Prowl in S2.
In season 3/4/TFTM, it's UMagnus.

As for toy rank of 9:
-Grimlock ranks 9. I'm sure, I saw others bots too.
-The original G1 Magnus tech spec had his rank as 8. But the 2001 Reissue Magnus had his rank up to 9 as well increase his power too.

For this movie, the rank of Jazz as second in command is just for designation only. Bay doesn't really understand enough about Transformers to be able to play out the interrelationship of the Autobots among themselves.

Also, everybody has a REAL role, except Jazz. Ironhide is weapon specialist, Ratchet as medic guy, Bumblebee as protector of Sam (the most important human link). But Jazz? Bay just went into his G1 box of ideas and pick out the "second in command" thing, but never knowing what to do with it.

^^^ I agree. Oh yeah, and Bumblebee was the scout. I guess that's why he was the human relations-bot.
