Bumblebee's voice

One thing really bothers me about the movie. If Frenzy touched the Allspark and got his body back, and if Sam bumped into machines and they came to life, why couldn't Bumblebee get a regular voice after he touched the Allspark? Or at the end when Bumblebee spoke, was that *supposed* to be his regular voice? It was relatively weak and out-of-place when compared with the heavy, deep voices everyone else had, so I wouldn't think so.

His voice was repaired by Ratchet. BTW this has been discussed ad nauseam here and on other boards. Scuse me while I whip this out:

They just pulled out the stand-in guy to do the voice for 'Bee but hopefully they give him a better voice next time.

As for the Allspark thing... Can't we just say that he wasn't thinking too much?

Dude, be polite with the horse. It's not like I'm trying to start a flamewar. :-? I've seen that thing in so many threads now that merely posting the picture should get another one as a reply. And I haven't been here that long.

I saw Ratchet kinda zap at his voice but it seemed he wasn't thrilled at the prospect, and if it was something Ratchet could/was going to fix, why didn't it happen sooner? I don't buy the Ratchet fixed it thing.

I, too, hope for a better (real) voice for the second movie.

No. They hired an actual actor/voice actor. Mark Ryan

and uh..well, his voice was damaged soo would you not find it hard to speak once it was fixed. that is probly why his voice was quieter and not as deep and such.

Yeah. Or his voice could just be that way. Bumblebee in G1 had a softer voice than most characters.

true..but it kinda seemed like there was a buzzing sound in his voice..kind of like a bumblebee. anyone else kinda think that as well?

Bumblebee: Are you a robot?

Bumblebee: Are we related?

Bumblebee: Are you my mother?

If it was FIXED it would SOUND RIGHT. By definition, if it doesn't sound right, then it's not truly fixed.

Bumblebee in G1 doesn't have a softer voice; he has a younger one, to my ear.

I liked Bumblebee's voice. It would stand to reason that his voice wouldn't be as strong as the others. Have you ever heard someone that has had a larynx transplant? Sure, their voice is "fixed" but it'll take a while to become strong again. His voice was destroyed and now that it's somewhat repaired, it's gonna sound a little funky.

What? No. It doesn't stand to reason - it's a plot hole. It doesn't stop me from enjoying the movie, and the question was out of idle curiosity, but the conclusions smell suspiciously like the orifices from which they've been pulled...

Why doesn't it stand to reason? His voice box was destroyed and is now only somewhat repaired. And the one of the writers himself said that it was Ratchet that fixed it, not the Allspark, even though they didn't make it that clear. His voice would presumably get stronger with time (assuming it works like ours do :D )

Writers making up something outside of the movie doesn't make it real. Making up stuff inside the scope of the movie does. And he's an alien and isn't really carbon-based, so why should we assume he works the same as humans do?

I don't mean to be prickish here, I just want something that makes sense and isn't conjecture or a writer trying to retcon the whole thing.

Forget Bumblebee's voice. I wanna know why the Allspark didn't fix his legs when he was holding it to give to Sam...

Perhaps you have to "communicate" with it. Yes, I know that sounds stupid, but maybe Frenzy knew how to get it to repair himself. Or maybe he had more pressing matters. They never should've had the Allspark fix Frenzy. It made things confusing.

Well, all i gotta say is, if Bumblebee didn't get to speak in that movie at all.... i would have been slightly angry. Due to the fact i grew up knowing that bumblebee is like the Hero kids would love... and him not talking!? Jeez...

I just wish that perhaps they didnt even do the damaged voicebox thing...

But seeing as they did, they should have elaborated on how he got it was fixed. It just seems like Ratchets effects paid off in the end. The red laser beam thing.

By "sound right" I mean in the context of the other characters. Every non-human in the movie that spoke (outside of Frenzy, who was much, much smaller than everyone else) did so with a deep, heavy voice that wasn't *overly* obscured by a robotic effect. Bumblebee's voice was heavy modified to sound more electronic than the rest.

I wondered about that initially, but thinking back, it seems to me that Frenzy's repairing himself was an innate ability. In other words, the Allspark didn't fix him, it just served as a power source for him to repair himself. We know he can repair himself from earlier in the movie. Bumblebee doesn't have that ability.

For a second I thought he was using another radio line, indeed it sounded very electronic and thin as if from a little radio speaker.

oh, hey...I never thought about that. I guess that's a possibility, but I'm pretty sure every radio line was "tuned in", so to speak, and I don't think those were, plus Sam said "You speak now?"

of course they wernt from the radio.

"permission to speak sir."..."i wish to stay with the boy"

i dont think any radio station would be saying that.
