Fans wanting a release of the Transformers Movie orchestral score by composer Steve Jablonsky may be out of luck. The Knight Shift has reported that Sony Musice has passed on some disappointing news. Here is what was passed on:
"At this time, there are no immediate plans regarding the release of the Transformers soundtrack score."
Now this does not mean that we will never see a release of the score, but it will not be anytime soon. To keep track of this story and other Transformers Movie news, keep an eye on the Seibertron.com Transformers Movie Section.

Sony making a bone-headed decision that's poor from both a consumer and supplier position? Who'd have thought it.

WTF why?! The instrumental score is SO much better than the soundtrack!

Bummers

Realistically, the window has passed on the maximum of people (ie the general public) that would purchase it. Only the select hardcore fans will... but that doesn't guarantee a profit.
Still, that's a shame.

Tossers.
That was something I was ACTUALLY looking forward to!
I have to call on Mr. Heston to sumarize what I am feeling right now, if I may:
"You maniacs! You blew it up!!!...G**damn you! Damn you all to hell!!!"

I doubt it would have turned a profit anyway if they had released it at the right time.
Anyone know how big the orchestral soundtrack market is?

Um, Burn...know how popular Star Wars is?

I still can't believe how stupid record labels are these days. HELLO? RELEASE IT ONLINE, there's no cost for them to do it that way and the hardcore fans can get what they want. It's so simple...

As a fan of TFs, "SHUCKS"
As a fan of music, "AH WELL, NO BIG LOSS"
Still, I would like a BB exclusive album, "WHEN I GET THAT FEEL"N ..."

... oh and also, I'm sure Japan will release it, they do alot of TF CDs, so why not.
And not for anything, this was a great movie, BUT COMPAIRING THIS SCORE TO THE STAR WARS SCORES, are you mad!?!
you know the sound was nice, but jeez!
This movie had computers, and Megan's sparkly eyes, back curves, and clevage, THX digital surround sound and all types of otherthings to keep **** moving and make you both stay in and jump out of your seat.
Star Wars, of which I'm not realy a fan, was made some thirty years ago, with none of that cool stuff to help it along. During slow, and powerful points, a decent score was one of the only things they had to realy force the issues.
IT would have to be better than great!
You have your opinion, and now you know mine.
But if I may, go get some "GodSpeed You Black Emperor" and the Chris Young score for HellRaiser 1&2. Now you have my advice as well.

Damn.
I was really hoping. =\
The score piece where the Autobots are making their approach into Earth's atmosphere...when the violins start playing...
Nothing short of beautiful and haunting.

That's one franchise, and i'm well aware that there's more orchestral soundtracks than just the Star Wars movies.
I'm asking if anyone has any figures that shows how well orchestral soundtracks sell.

The thing is, the soundtrack should have had
both songs
as well as orchestral music. Isn't that what soundtracks are? to help evoke the emotions, scenes, and other feelings felt during the movie. Since when has there had to be
two soundtracks, one for songs and one for music?
I wonder what goes on behind the scenes. I'm surprised that Jablonsky, if he had any say, wouldn't push to get that soundtrack out. It would mean more royalties for him, not to mention greater exposure.

I think this is a mistake. I'm sure it would've done fairly well in its genre. Maybe they'll release it along side the DVD release of the movie (if they do decide to release it at some point).

Well, that settles it.
I'll be downloading the score when it comes out. Sony Music won't be getting any money from me.
