Nice to know TF is still on a huge media roll, even 5 months out.

Er... I think the comeback really started with, depending on who you ask, G2, Beast Wars, or RiD. I tend towards saying Beast Wars, but that's just me.

Anyhow, I'll be the first to say this in this thread... Don't call it a comeback.

Yeah, Transformers has been kicking ass since Beast Wars. You can't say comeback when it never went anywhere! Transformers is one of the rare "constants" in the toy & animation industry.

There's a comeback? I didn't know Transformers really went away, except maybe for a year between G2 and Beast Wars.

They really mean that TF is getting popular again. For a while, it hasn't really been extremely popular. Now everybody will be talking about it again.

Well, Movie=Hype=Intrest=Money.

But even without that, I've always noticed that the retro trend of any era is based on 20 prior.

ie, the 90's revolved around the 70's

So even with shows like the Unicron Trilogy trying to bury the franchise, the toys still rocked. Top that with the fact that the kids being told "NO" by Mom all those years ago now have money of their own. You gotta expect it.

What concerns me is the year 2010 when the 90's retro fad hits, what are we going to do, base everything on everything we remembered :???:

Yeah, the comeback will probably last until the movie comes out and sends the franchise straight to hell. Oh well... it was fun while it lasted!

My only concern in the year 2010 is that we actually CAN remember things considering how old some of us will be getting...:-P

Cool, but I don't think Transformers can go away, even with the awful designs in the movie, people will still be here loving the old with the new TFs.

When did it ever stop? I do remember a period a while back when tfs were rarer than Francium, and pretty much non-existant element. At least I think it's francium. They are becoming huge again, and this could do wonders for availability here in the UK.

Transformers has always been and will never go away. Hasbro and Tarkara make to much money off the figures. The only thing we might see is the death of the TV shows. Since they have all sucked one way or another since the end of Beast Wars. From RID on they have jumped for channel to channel and have been thrown in all timeslots. The show is a dieing art but the toys shall live on.

The prequel movies came out after a long hiatus. Star Wars is a huge franchise.

What will happen to the TF franchise, though?

I think the comeback pertains to the G1 era of characters and archetypes, which really started with Dreamwave doing the new G1 line.

In many ways, Transformers never left. It still offers high-quality toys at competitive prices.
