We now have transformers butt now it seems other franchises will follow
So far it has been confirmed that there will be a thundercats movie in 2010 a voltron movie in 09 and a speed racer movie in 08 and a he-man movie in 09
This is a thread where our other child hood icons live action rebirths can be discussed
So does anyone have any new news about these upcoming flicks?

I think speed racer is a 60's cartoon or 70's at the latest.

Are there any movies or tv shows of Thundercats since the 80s cartoon?

Speed Racer has been known about for a while. So has Voltron. Thundercats is relatively new info, though.

What the heck are they doing?
TMNT came out not too long ago, rocky came back, i heard about a new Indiana Jones movie.
Are they trying to breathe life back in the 80s?

Pshhh, the 80's never died dude :) Man, Thundercats the movie. Now I love Thundercats, but somebody give me sight beyond sight about how they're going to pull that one off effectively. Being totally CG might save it, keep it animated, but if it's live action I think it might be a 'hair' far fetched for movie goer's to really get into in just 2+ hours. I mean you've got alien cat people, alien lizard and jackal and vulture people, a giant cat shaped fortress that somehow got built, an evil mummy that can change into some freaky shaman looking warrior, and let's not forget his mummy bulldog- all on a post apocolyptic Earth. That's harder to pull off and make beleivable than giant robots on earth turned out to be. God, let's just hope they keep Jessica Simpson out of the Cheetara role. Giving me chills.

Think about it:
-David Lee Roth is getting back together with Van Halen.
-Tons of movies based on '80s franchises.
-Batman becoming cool again after years of crap.
-Another Crisis in DC Comics
Don't you see? It's the Return of the Eighties!

CGI or live action... either way, it's gonna be awesome!
Thundercats never really died out in me. I used to make Thundercats graphics back in the 80s on the xt computers with the green screen. Also made a few simple animations. Out of BASICA! (the primitive Advanced BASICS language)
I can still remember the tunes.

Feel the magic, hear the roar, Thundercats are loose...da-dahdum! Man that song rocked, had some major electric guitar solo going on there. Makes me want to pomp up some Flock of Seagulls hair right now. Quick! Where's my piano key tie??

That Thundercats news sounds awesome! I hope its CG, though, even though I would love to see Jessica Simpson in the Cheetara outfit...BUT! Sacrfices must be made. Hugh Jackman and Michael Clarke Duncan are perfect for those roles! If they make it anything other than conventional CG, they should do motion capture, like Zemeckis is doing with Beowulf.

G.I. Joe! There has been talk of a G.I. Joe movie for 20 years. Come on, now! With the success of Transformers, it shouldn't be too hard to get a studio to pick it up. Hell, have all the soldiers from the Transformers movie play the Joe Team.

Wish I could remeber where, but there is a site that says (I hope I get this info right, havn't read it lately) Bay wanted to doa Joe movie (one of my best childhood cartoons...or at least favorites), but when the war in Iraq broke out, he changed it to 'Formers. Again I can't say hw accurate that is, but I read it and can't find it...hmmm....a joe movie would be awsome, watched speed a kid, but can't say weather I'd like a movie or not, can't remember enough about it except the car, and I could actually care less for Thundercats. I was into them for two minutes, but lost after a few episodes, just couldn't get into it.

I beleive it was Murphy and De Santto, and not Bay that wanted to do the Joe movie.
