And over 8000 texture maps were used to give Bumblebee is beat up appearance? If you are interested in how ILM brought our favorite changing robots to life in the movie, head on down to your local Barns & Noble or Borders or other bookstore and pick up a copy of 3D World with Bumblebee cover. While this magazine is $15.50 (It is imported from the UK) it does come with some free 3D software and free models that you can use to make 3D landscapes. The article was well written and divulged just how complex these figures really were.

Note:This magazine is geared to the 3D industry so it uses some terms that you may not be used to. Also if this info is for the US. 3D World in the US is released a month behind the UK so unfortunately, you probably missed this issue as the next one is supposedly on the racks. Go to their website and order it from them if you can't find it in your area.

There is also another great article on ILM's work in the July issue of Computer Graphics World magazine. It should be at Barnes and Noble as well, and is a lot cheaper at $4.95 because it doesn't come with any software.

I did not know that and now I do, and knowing is at least half of the battle...

Thanks for enlightening me. Blackout happened to be one of the coolest movie bots IMHO.
