Michael Bay HD-DVD post
08/21/2007 07:51 PM

Last night at dinner I was having dinner with three Blu-Ray owners, they were pissed about no Transformers Blu-Ray and I drank the kool aid hook line and sinker. So at 1:30 in the morning I posted - nothing good ever comes out of early am posts mind you - I over reacted. I heard where Paramount is coming from and the future of HD and players that will be close to the $200 mark which is the magic number. I like what I heard.

As a director, I'm all about people seeing films in the best quality possible, and I saw and heard firsthand people upset about a corporate decision.

So today I saw 300 on HD-DVD, it rocks!

So I think I might be back on to do Transformers 2!

So, if I'm reading this right, he was drunk when he posted that. No big deal.

Where do people get that from what he said? All I see is him saying he impulsively posted something this morning while still wound up about it without thinking it through. Now, through hindsight, he sees he shouldn't have reacted so quickly.

Basing your decision on whether to do a film or not on some production company's decision to release your film on a certain format?

You, Mr. Bay, make no sense.

I don't think so. I think he was just saying that he took the Blu-Ray owners' argument to heart, and then, while he was still mad about it, posted that.

But Michael Bay... 300 Blu-Ray sold 2-3 times more then the HD-DVD version and that the Blu-Ray will be under $300 by Christmas. Well at least Blu-Ray will be getting the Steven Spielberg movies...

Look, I liked his style for Transformers, and I think with a bigger budget on the next one, he'll be able to make an awesome TF movie.

With Soundwave.

Awwww, dammit. And here I was hoping we could get a decent looking TF....oh well.

It's funny how he can tease both the people who like him and the people who don't at the same time.

I knew he was overreacting. That's a pretty lame reason to quit being the director of a amazingly successful blockbuster movie series.

I tend to believe that he saw the amount that Paramount/DW wants to throw his way to do number 2, and he, as Counterpunch stated in the other thread, changed his "Artistic Stance."

And frankly, all the attention that we gave him today just fueled his already Unicronian-sized ego. But then again, money talks, right?

Word.

Damn it. I wanted to see some one else try. So it looks like (as of now) that TF2 will be another great action movie but an OK Transformer movie.

According to my friend:

TRANSFORMERS IS THE WORST MOVIE EVER MADE BY MICHAEL BAY.

So when does Michael join Lindsay in rehab?

I do like that the blog Bay posted while pissed off his rocker is possibly the best written (in terms of grammar and punctuation) that I have ever seen him post.

Perhaps he needs to get sloshed more often?

This guy...

What can we say about this guy that hasn't been said... You know I was going to write something as soon as the story broke, but I decided to hold back, I had a feeling he'd change his tune. I'd like to say that he knew his little hissy fit wasn't going to get him anything but kicked off of a profitable franchise, and he had to eat humble pie, but you KNOW he just wanted to see all those "good riddance" posts. And he'll be messing with us, until opening day of TF2... He's good.

Too bad Paramount screwed up... Blockbuster has exclusive rights to rent Blu-Ray games.

Oh wow, that's kind of funny.

And humanizing.

If true.

More so in Hollywood.

Which is why i'm surprised people are quick to either defend him or condone him.

I'm sure there's plenty of other Hollywood directors who'd do the same thing.

Again, where from his blog entry does he say anything that has to do with alcohol?

And this is why I don't want him to do the sequel. Even though he did okay with TF 1; he just seems to exude an ADHD-like(sorry; I hate to use the analogy but it's the only thing that I can think of to get the point across) ability to get set off on the smallest things, then to make a decision which he regrets a few hours later. Oh, and not to mention arrogance.

He just seems to be all over the place, and it shows in his camera work(didn't bother me too much this time around; but I'm not sure if I can take another movie with it).
