How do Transformers die?

In the movie, we see Jazz, and most of the Decepticons die from gun fire, artillery shells, and even from being broken in two. But how could they "die" from these kind damage? Isn't their "Spark" what is essentially their "soul" or essense of what they really are? If their bodies are damaged to the point it can not function, wouldn't their Spark still survive? Or is there some mechanism that requires that the Spark is preserved somehow in their bodies by way of that mysterious blue liquid that Jazz gushed out after being ripped in half? Anyone know? Thoughts? Ideas? Theories?

Perhaps Jazz had critical systems that were cut off or too horribly damaged to survive. Perhaps the spark has its own "life support system" that must function to keep the spark going, maybe a casing as well. But considering Jazz was ripped in two...maybe his critical systems were located in his crotch??

Seriously, though, I think Jazz should've survived his injuries. Brawl and Bonecrusher I can see definitely not surviving their injuries. And Megs as well. Blackout was just unfortunate.

I guess Jazz is the one that bothers me the most. Megatron is either dead, or dormant somehow. Bonecrusher doesn't come any deadeer since Prime shoved his blade so far down into him, I'm sure he severed something critical. Brawl and Blackout were blown apart, but I don't recall their chest area being all that damaged. But Jazz, he suffered somewhat similar injuries as BB did. BB lost his lower half, yet survived. Jazz, just gave it up. :???:

they're not invinsible, enough rounds from a really powerful weapon or artillery can kill them.

Some have are more "sturdy" than others, (ironhide taking missles to the chest, Bumblebee loosing his legs in a blast from SS)

Humans have died from shock from minor injuries, and survived huge traumas.

Transformers are not just robots, they are "alive" so I imagine (fanwankery ahoy!) that some injuries could damage their spark in different ways. Like shock for humans.

Also, they must not all keep their sparks in their chest. Frenzy was just a head for a good portion of the movie. Optimus and Megatron obviously kept their sparks in their chests. Perhaps Jazz's spark was in his lower torso.

It'd be intresting to see how much damage a Devastator, or Metroplex could take in a movie!! I mean Blackout would look small compared to either. Here to seeing a combiner or a bigger Tformer in the next movie!

only bb's legs were destroyed the rest of him was just fine minus some minor hits most likely from brawl but jazz had gotten hit before the fact and ripped apart and my guess is that his internal parts died before ratchet could get to him

Bonecrusher and Brawl could very well survive their inujuries and are likely in stasis lock. Bonecrusher simply lost his head much like Frenzy did when he fought Mikela. Jazz suffered catastrophic damage to his internal systems, howeverm it has been mentioed by the voice actor for him that he []might[/b] make it back in the second movie, and the Target exclusive G1 repaint also hints that he might get a new lease on life, possibly with help from the fragment of the Allspark. His bio reads that Ratchet rebuilds him. I would have to say that the only one who is permanently dead would be Frenzy since his head was destroyed by his own weapon.

people keep bringing up that bio on the jazz repaint its just a way for hasbro to release another version of a toy has nothing to do with the movie or sequal. Jazz is dead accept it.

It's not just the toy that hints at it. As I said, the voice actor who played Jazz also mentioed it. If they can bring back Megatron and some of the other Decepticons, they could also bring back Jazz. I'm not saying they will for certain, but it is a possibility.

Actually BB only lost his legs from the knees down, the rest of his body was unharmed.

Why? They'll need to bring him back if they introduce the Constructicons, though he might get a new body. His head is still intact, so he could possibly be revived.

Transformers "die" when you continually reissue, repaint, or otherwise regurgitate them.

Transformers die when hasbro execs stop making the figure. :P See: Transformers: The Movie (G1 edition.)

Transformers also die at the simplest shot for no reason when in any previous series/episode they could have brushed it off without a scratch. Also see Transformers: the movie (G1 edition) :P

Yeah, especially if your name's Prowl, you're meant to be the Autobots Second in Command, and you get killed by one shot by a Decepticon grunt named Scavenger!

They die at the hands of their nemesis due to interference by some young git, who thought he was helping when in reality he totally screwed you over...
Once again, see Transformers: the movie (G1 edition)

XD

So basically all forms of TF death is either directly or indirectly related to the existence of TFTM. lol! I like it.

I'm thinking the way TFs see death, is different than how humans would see it. The TFs have 2 varieties of death. 1 is a type of death, that they all still treat seriously/emotionally as if the mech was gone forever, but the "dead" mech is actually still repairable. (just need somebody really good at repairing)

The other death is the one where whatever it was that was damaged is NOT repairable. Like the broken whatsit inside Prime during that eps where Spike and the rest went to Cybertron to get it. I haven't seen all 4 seasons of G1 TF, but I hear Prime gets revived? Even though he did "die" and passed on the matrix. It's either that or, ofcourse, the spark is gone.

I think of it all like your computer. A piece inside could be broken. You say your computer is "dead". But only until you can find a replacement for that piece.

Unless yer computer gets missiled or it's spark is destroyed. lol!

The TFs die in different ways. Too many ways (for me) to find a certain pattern to it all. Death, stasis-lock, eh.... whatever. But one things for sure. No spark, no life. Right? I don't think i've ever seen a vampire transformer before.
