It would be silly to see a mecha T-Rex onscreen, but hey if they bother to do the Dinobots, I want dino modes.

I agree. Otherwise, why call them Dinobots?

It wouldn't look cool if a Dinosaur was in TF, well at least for the movie. I think they should stay vehicles...

Sounds like a good enough reason to leave Grimlock out. ;;)

They have to have the Dinobots in as the next attracting gimmick. Metal dinosaurs are going to atract non fans as well as cooler or more concept vehicle modes

Eh, I disagree.
Maybe start them as vehicles...
But at some point, they need to have dino alt modes.

If you're ten years old.

Everyone I know would think just robot dinosaurs are kind of stupid. And it's always going to be vehicles, because the movie was a car commercial. It's the way movies work nowadays.

I could easily see Grimlock being some sort of Monstertruck, but I think the best compromise and solution would be for them to be triple changers.

Monster Tuck - T Rex - Grimlock

Miniplane - Pteradactyl - Swoop

Somesort of pushing vehicle (I would say Bulldozer but I want the Constructicons, steamroller maybe?) - Triceratops - Slag

Etc.

If Grimlock is to appear in TF2, he should have both Cybertronian mode and Earth dino mode.

That way... Hasbro can sell more toys!

And we'll have no choice but to buy them all!

:)

agree on that one.
the most reasonable solution to have the dinobots turn into three modes. humanoid robot (standard) - vehicle (standard) - dinosaur robot (under pressing situations such as during his fights alone against three or more Decepticons).

Grimlock as a vehicle won't make him that special anymore.

If they could pull off Skorponok, they can pull off the Dinobots with robotic dinosuar alternate modes.

I'd actually like to see robot dino modes. It would have a kinda Godzilla effect for me personally. And if the Constructicons show up in TF2, giant robot dinos vs. a gigantic mish mash of construction vehicles would rule, imho.

I think Grimlock should be designed close to a realistic dinosaur. Not the golden solid torso type of G1. Just like the treatment for Scorponok.

Exactly. He should still pay homage to his G1 form in robot mode—though definately more complex and detailed to fit the movie—but his T-rex mode should definately be more realisticly styled and more detailed like Skorponok.

Do dinosaurs have scales?
The skin made of overlapping pieces will look good. Unlike Scorponok in skeletal form, which suits him well. Grimlock have to be more massive type.

Really people.

If Soundwave was problematic in the 1st movie...what makes you think Grimlock has a shot in hell of being a T-Rex?

Scorpion is even more stupid than a dinosaur. Yet, Scorponok made it into the Movie. And he doesn't look out of place that much.

Dino Grimlock can work.

Not the type of scales modern day crocodiles have. Dinosaur skin was actually pretty close to ours, made out of tiny scaley pieces (look at your knuckles) allowing for flexibility and sturdiness at the same time. However, recent discoveries point out quite a few species of dinosaurs were covered in a coat of furry/feathery plumage. The kind of fur baby birds have.

Now, since the TFs are non-biological and thus do not require any type of fur, they could just skip the skin/scales/feathers and just make the Dinobot altmodes skeletal like Scorponok. They wouldn't stick out any more than Scorponok did. He supposedly scanned a tiny scorpion while he's much bigger himself, resulting in an oversised arachnid. The Dinobots could just scan any skeleton/model of a dinosaur, or they could've been around 65 million years ago (given Sludge and Snarl transform into Cretaceous relatives of the Jurassic Stegosaurus and Apatosaurus)

Dinos can adapt the tiny scale-like pieces.
Problem is, Bay will want to zoom in again all the time. To focus on each tiny scales. And this time, 10x of the previous zoom!

God, no! :-x

Agreed. If they can just write them in correctly, it could be done. I don't know of too many complaints about Scorponok from TF1. Do an animatronic dino or museum storyline as the inspiration for the Dinobots alt modes and it would make since. Otherwise, if they're not going to be dinosaurs, they're just plain old Autobots... and what's the point.

They can drop in millions of years ago. Scan real dinos. And enter stasis mode. Only to be awaken in TF2.

The reason I like Grimlock (the comic vrs. not the cartoon vrs.) has nothing to do with is alt mode. I would rather just Grimlock be introduced (and not the other 4) and be a cybertronian tank. He could easily be seen as too arrogant to take a disguise... which could work as the reason for the dino "disguise" ,Prime orders him to take a disguise and Grimlock copies an robot display of a T-Rex.
