Well, as I had said just prior to the movie release, this type of Genre is now what's going to bring in a new era of scifi and movies for the masses.. witness the news of new franchises such as Voltron Defender of the Universe, and the live action Robotech movie, starring and producing Tobey McGuire? Yep that's right folks, the live action robot movie extravaganza has begun, who will remain at the top?

The more bots throwing down the better. I'm anxious to see what Voltron will look like and sound like on the big screen.
The original rendition has some pretty original sound effects that made it all the more memorable. Shhhaaaakinnn

Blocky? No. At least not for Voltron.

Neon Genesis Evangelion could be an excellent future real action movie.

If Hollywood could make Megatron in Transformers movie, then they could make Evangelion. Their designs are similar with each others.

I'm pretty sceptical of any giant robot fiction working well in live action it just strikes me as a genre much more suited to animation. However I think the main problem with Transformers was that the robots were supposed to be sentient characters not mindless automatons so it was important that they take a central role, unfortunately they didn't. Luckily this is not true of Robotech or Voltron(?) so it might work a little better. We'll have to wait and see how these pan out.

Agreeed... I can't wait to see Robotech... maybe they'll start it out with the Invid attacking the Zentreadi, and show the Masters and the whole backstory.. i assume the first movie is based on the Macross saga!!

anyways.. the Live action robomovies are gonna become the "Next Big" live action movies at the box office.. hollywood is going comicbook and giant robots crazy right now.. CGI has helped bring it along very nicely...

IRON GIANT LIVE ACTION!

Evangelion

Evangelion.....aren't robots.

As a rabid Evangelion fan I'm obliged to point that out.

Clones of Adam, that makes them a lot closer to giant humans encased in armour that restrains their power.

"Barely-restrained demon"= Evangelion 01.

It would make a good "giant robot" movie, but in the case of Evangelion I believe that if they didn't have the pilots 14 years old and main character (Shinji) suffered from extreme depression

Evangelion fans wouldn't watch it!

Evangelion 01 would *rape Optimus Prime. ^^

I'm actually thinking of doing a picture along those lines.

*thinks*
I'm gonna start a New Topic for that...

Never speak of that blasphemy to Gundam.

And I am very excited for Robotech. I wonder if Max's awesomeness can be captured in live action.

Check this out, it's a fan-made Grendizer(or Goldrake, or Grandizer) Movie. It actually looks kick a$$!!!

I would love to see a Mazinger Z movie too. Robotech and Voltron will hopefully kick A$$. I read a review of the Voltron script and it sounded really cool. I try not to think about it cause it wont be out for a while. The thought just makes me all giddy inside

I know it's a travesty really.

But that was the closest we'll ever get to a true Gundam movie. Well for a release outside of Japan anyway.
