Yes, that's right, the USA and Canada are not the only countries to be getting the Transformers Movie on the big, big screen!
IMAX Melbourne will be screening the Transformers Movie from September 21st.
The Run time is set as 145 minutes, so it seems as though what was said on Bay's site runs true for the Aussie release.
There is yet no mention whether Transformers will be appearing at IMAX Sydney but the Seibertron News Team will keep you updated.

Do they still have that IMAX in Brisbane? I swear there was one at Southbank.
I know there was/is an IMAX in the Brisbane area but I haven't been there in years.

There was an IMAX in Dreamworld a few years back, it was only a normal size screen, but they played IMAX documentaries. Wasn't the Southbank Screen a Summer only kind of event?

I once went to an IMAX where it was a huge dome, and almost the entire inside of it was the screen. I nearly buckled when I first walked in. I think my brain might attempt to eat itself if I were to watch Transformers on that bad boy.

I'm hoping that Sydney will get it after it's run in Melbourne. My thinking is that IMAX Australia may have only gotten one reel of the film.
That or Sydney are too lazy to update their site.

On further google inspection the one in Dreamworld is still going. There's no other IMAX by the looks of things.
I remember going on a school trip to watch some Documentary there. I think that was about 1999.

So yeah it might have been a summer only event.

Yup, the East Coast is well represented, but the rest of Australia gets jack.

Sydney has a summer event called "Moonlight Cinema" where you get to watch films (both current and classics) in Centennial Park. I'm hoping Transformers gets a go this summer.
Wouldn't be surprised if Sydney stole it from Brisbane.

We had something like that, I think it was at the Riverstage/botanical gardens a couple of years back. I didn't go, but it didn't seem too bad.
I reckon if they threw in some Star Wars, TF and *cringe* Shrek, "Moonlight Cinema" would be an instant hit.
Too bad most festivals up here revolve around celebrating a polluted river...

This got me thinking, and I have a very vague memory of seeing an iMax cinema. And if I have the only time that could have happened was in 1988 when I went with the school for the Expo in Brisbane.

Really? I wasn't expecting Brisbane to get it at all (since of the lack of a IMAX theatre here). Do you have any more info on this?
There used to be an IMAX at Southbank, but now it's just a normal cinema with one IMAX-like screen. I actually went a saw Transformers on the said IMAX-like screen.

Damn Im planning to go to Melbourne for the Melbourne Show when this starts. Maybe when Im down in October for Armegeddon Expo if the movie still at IMAX I might be able to fit it in(and drag my little sister along with me). Of course watching it in this format will kick some real ass.

If that is the case, then that's a fairly short run for an Imax film. Even the Christmas films get 6 or so weeks play every year...
