i don't know if Bay would like the 'realism' a robot/dinosaur brings to the table. haha..
there just aren't many applications to use the term, 'robots in disguise'...a dinosaur is a pretty bad disguise.
pick an animal that hasn't been dead for 60 million years why dontcha...i can hear Bay saying it now.

Needs some reproportioning and face-editing, but it looks nice. I'm personally for a robot, Transmetal-style Grimlock alt with projected skin like Blackout's pilot.

Yeah it doesn't blend into the scenery as much as a car, or pick up, I could see Grimlock taking on that form for two reasons. One, Grimlock is the bull in the China shop personalitywise. He doesn't care what his fellow Autobots think. He's badass. And a badass like him doesn't follow uptight , overly conservative leaders like Optimus Prime, he's the one who the troops should follow. The second, it looks cool, and he likes it. And so do I.

Looks like the Dinobot toy... O_O Cool, but not Grimy, same as Starscream looks like Waspy, is cool, but not Screamer.

Cool design for a classic Dinobot maybe but not Grim. Grimlock has to be more robotic.

What he said.
I think by the end of this movie, when people on Earth are well aware that robots are amongst them, the whole "Robots in Disguise" factor will be toned down. I figure by then it will be full-scale war between the Autobots and Decepticons, and THEN we will see guys like Grimlock in it.

okay, compared to that I can accept starscream.
(thats saying alot considering I hope the person who thought that starscream should look like a futuristic waspinator in the new movie should be beaten by a stick).
That honestly is one of the ugliest things I've ever seen its like movie megatron had a child with a mutant t-rex, and voila! You have ugliness incarnate. (this is only my opinion and not fact, so please no flaming)
If anything that thing with some readjustments (and by that I mean redrawing certain parts rather than photoshopping a cartoonish picture of movie megatron) that it could pass as dinobot, similarly to how starscream should be turned into waspinator.

Well, it'd be great, but I don't think we'll see it in the movies. If they're gonna have a G1 gimmick in the movies, I'd rather have some Gestalts, anyway.

Either that or Triplechangers. Either way I'd be happy

As for the Grimlock design, I think it looks pretty damn cool

It's an ok design. Looks like a mix between Tic-Toc, Dinobot, and a Turtle.
Could use a redesign on the face, make him look recognisable as Grimlock. Right now, if the design were to be used in a TF film, people would confuse him for Dinobot, instead of Grimlock and vice versa.

Yeah, i know this is the TF first live action movie, but they need to put Dinobots in the movie too.
