Relax folks: You'll get your Constructicons gestalt

He won't be called "Devastator" (unless his name is fixed in the DVD and they reassign it for Transformers 2) but even so, that's okay.
Michael Bay has said that he wants the Constructicons in the next movie and no doubt this means we will get to see an honest-to-goodness gestalt of them.
And it doesn't matter if he's not called "Devastator" or that Bonecrusher won't be part of the mix. For one thing this is an entirely new continuity, maybe the best continuity of Transformers in the history of the franchise, and there's nothing wrong with mixing things up a bit.
But the real reason why I believe we'll see the Constructicons gestalt is that I like to think that we are going to see a lot more Transformers in this next movie. They don't all have to be named on-screen, do they? By the time Transformers 2 rolls around, the Autobots have probably been migrating to Earth in huge numbers when Starscream arrives with a hella lotta Decepticons. Taking the time to do a roll-call covering all of them would waste too much time.
So we'll probably see the Constructicons and get a "personal introduction" from 2 or 3 of them at the most while the rest remain nameless in the movie, and then they'll go off and merge into their combined form. And it'll look so gosh-darned amazing that by that point we won't even care what its called!
Heck, I can easily imagine that this could become quite a contest for the fans, just like the "give Optimus a line" one was. "Name the Constructicons", including their combined form. Maybe those names won't be seen or heard in the movie itself, but they'll be part of the canon all the same.
And really: I hate to say this but it will only be longtime fans (and I count myself as one of them for sure) for whom this will even be an issue at all. Everyone else in the public who is just now discovering what Transformers is all about, they probably don't even know yet that some Transformers can do this trick, much less what the names of those combined forms are. This will be old-hat for us but something quite shocking for the rest of the world. Bay and Co. are going to show them that, in spite of whatever it is that the hardcore fans demand it be called.
So if you're worried that the producers have written the Constructicons into a corner already and they can't get them out: don't fret! This is still the Transformers concept we grew up with, just a whole new saga with entirely new rules. The movie series is the most serious and mature take on the franchise that there's ever been, and we gotta allow it some space to adapt to this medium.
Have faith and be of good cheer: there will be Constructicons and they will combine into one honkin' big-a$$ robot. You'll see
