I'm transferring from Loss Prevention to Media at my work (at Best Buy), and mentioned to my new Supervisor about the upcoming Transformer release (he's excited too), and he mentioned the lithograph, as well as a "small figure"... I have no idea what the "small figure" could be, nor if he's confusing the DVD release with the previous game release (where we had Legends figures of Cybertron Jetfire & "Bumblebee")...

Oh, and I'm from Minnesota...

PS- I'll try to dig up some more info, but the rest of you are pretty quick with these news stories about upcoming releases...

The so-called "lithograph" being offered for "free" is a non-disclosed reproduction/poster.

Lithographs are original works of visual art created by an artist. This is confirmed by U.S. Customs regulation, U.S. Copyright Law and statutory law.

When someone abuses terminology for profit, aside potential serious questions of law, it perpetuates misconceptions and poisons the marketplace against artists who actually create legitimate works of visual art such as lithographs, much less those who sell fully disclosed reproductions.

I hope the Seibertron.com website will consider giving full and honest disclosure to these free reproductions as reproductions being offered with the sale of this Transformer DVD.

Couple questions/ observations ...

Who the Hell is this guy??

Why the Hell do we care??

I really hate pompous asses that talk just to hear themselves talk and ATTEMPT to sound smart. Not to mention he joined TODAY just to post this tripe. As a loyal Siebertronian I am offended that someone would register just to excrete some pseudo-intellectual crap.

Best Buy utilizes the word "lithograph" everytime they offer an origianl picture with a DVD or other release (got one that's pretty cool from Star Wars Ep 3) and it's obvious it will be a "reproduction," because no one is standing there painting/drawing them as we walk in to get our DVDs. If you're a fan, please spare us from you posting nuggets of excrement like you did above. If you're really not a fan (and since you just joined today and posted what you did, I doubt you are) I'm going to create an original lithgraph just for you...then Im going to stick it where the Spark doesnt shine...Douche.

I wasn't going to create an account to post, but what the hey..

I got a copy of the lithograph and Bestbuy did printed on it "Collectible Lithograph". So it's Bestbuy's terminology, not Siebertron's..

Here are some pics of it. I was alittle disappointed it featured Megatron. I was hoping it was doublesided with Optimus Prime, but the other side was blank..

Does anyone know if this is part of a series of TF movie lithographs?

I wonder how much more the DVD will cost at Best Buy with this extra paper versus just getting the stupid move at Walmart.

Thanks!

That Prime pic ver the eye is awesome, but I think the Wal-Mart exclusive with the animated prequil has it beat still.

This is gonna be a tough one for fans as each chain has it's owen exclusive.

Comercializm at it's most foul

I look forward to the BB Megatron, otherwise, they are out!

In short, as for these DVD exclusives, what can I say except, LET THE PREFERENCE WARS BEGIN :P

There shouldnt be a price difference... Best Buy just does this to help "keep things moving" on a big release day. Instead of clogging up their registers you typically just go up to customer service where they have their predetermined number of presells set aside, show you're receipt, get your DVD and you're on you're merry way!!

Of course, thats if your local Best Buy is on the ball lol.

WTF is a lithograph?

I posted this on the forums last week but no one seemed to care.

The lithograph is sort of like a book and it features some basic artwork of Megatron.

But that doesn't matter. The coolest Best Buy exclusive for the US is a bundle pack when you purchase the 2-Disc Special Edition. It comes with two Robot Heroes figures which are exclusive to Best Buy. One is Cliffjumper (a repainted movie Bumblebee) and the other is Battle-Damaged Optimus Prime (obviously, a repaint of OP).

Best Buy has a promo running now where you can pre-order the TF movie and get $5 off the soundtrack or upcoming score. When the movie releases, there will be major callouts in the ad, and also big standees and signage in-store.

I'd rather get the animated prequel from Wal-Mart myself. A picture of Megatron that I could find online and print myself, or a couple tiny little deformed and 'cute' figures isn't enough incentive for me. I'd rather get a free dvd.

There's two figure exclusives? Bestbuy.ca already solicited the giftset and placed an order. I wonder which one they'll ship to me?

Or do both figures get packaged together?

That litho looks like a waste of wall space to me... :(

Wal-Marts's sounds better:

{edit}

here is the announcement:
Exclusive includes: "Transformers" - From director Michael Bay and executive producer Steven Spielberg comes a thrilling battle between the heroic Autobots(R) and the evil Decepticons(R). When their epic struggle comes to Earth, all that stands between the Decepticons(R) and ultimate power is a clue held by young Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf). Unaware that he is mankind's last chance for survival, Sam and Bumblebee, his robot disguised as a car, are in a heart-pounding race against an enemy unlike anything anyone has seen before. It's the incredible, breath-taking film spectacular that USA Today says "will appeal to the kid in all of us." Also includes Bonus Item.
