A Scene That Still Bugs Me...

... when Megan Fox bad-mouths Bumblebee's "crappy" Camaro mode and he leaves to scan the new concept Camaro and comes back to show off his new skin...

well..

WHAT THE HELL WAS THE NEW CONCEPT CAMARO DOING JUST DRIVING AROUND TOWN?!

It still bugs me, this is a concept car that hasn't even made it to production yet (or hadn't been at the time of filming, or at the time the movie takes place...) I mean, Jazz scanned the Solstice from the dealership even though it would make more sense to see the Solstice driving around and the new Camaro at a dealership or car show... not the other way around...

Is anyone else bothered by that?

If giant robots can come down from space, it's probably pretty likely, especially in the LA area where there are lots of stars doing things for publicity, that there would be a concept car being driven around.

And there's no need to yell. I'm standing right here.

actually jazz's alt mode wasen't realistic either the hardtop solstice isn't being put into production until 2009 either. And besides it's a movie. Maybe GM was trying out the prototype on the road :P

Its called product placement...

...and for storyline purposes, maybe the designers were test driving a prototype?

relax guys, it's just the marketing ploy in the movie. they change the alt modes so much it's crazy.

Ironhide's alt used to have a chrome bumper, and ratchet used to be a plain yellow hummer2.

In fact they changed Soundwaves form so many times they decided to leave him out of the first movie all together!

He more sequel material anyway...

If you are trying to justify plot holes in the Transformers movie, you have a mighty uphill battle in front of you.

Test mules are seen on roads all the time in certain areas. Michigan is one, desert roads are another out near the various manufacturer proving grounds. Sometimes you'll see them wrapped in camo disguise to hide curves and such, but they are among us. There are currently Camaro mules running around backroads in Australia according to various automotive spy-shot journalists. Motortrend just reported getting a tour of Death Valley in a Pontiac G8 mule that they were testing for powertrain and NVH accessments, public roads. They are out there, most of us just aren't either in the right area at the right time, or don't notice them. If your lucky enough to get a shot of one though, many mags will buy the photo. ;)

I live in Dayton, and I personally got to see a Solstice and a STS a year before they appeared on lots. My dad works for GM (salary) here and his plant manager had one of each before release to make comments on and basically show off to neighbors and such. I think he had a 2006 Corvette Z06 for awhile too. Talk about perks.

The rest of it is like everyone else says. It's a movie, and it plays on your suspension of disbelief. You're watching a movie about autonomous alien robots doing battle on earth, so they figured you probably won't bicker over that detail too much.

Two words: "Steven Spielberg".

As MAD Magazine pointed out years ago (in its parody of E.T.), Spielberg movies have plot holes big enough to drive a Mack truck through :P

You can order a removable hardtop from the factory.

And, this is common Knowlege, but BB's prop ain't even a real Camaro, so maybe the guy driving it in the movie was a craved Chevrolite (dirty vermin) and turned his car into one. Wishful thinking. :P

ye but I doubt you could find one at a dealer. I have never seen one on the street and I've passed by lots of pontiac and GM dealers and I've never seen a hardtop solstice there either.

I've seen ONE, but the hardtop is mondo expensive.

Must have been aftermarket. Pontiac doesn't offer (check their site) the removable hardtop from the factory or as a GM accessory (yet). Only come soft tops. But they have been and probably still are toying with the idea of a strictly hardtop model. Nonremovable roof, and it's kinda ugly.

Transformers the movie: Welcome to headache-land.

What can you expect? That movie had worse plot holes and such than the first one.

Stranger things have happened in LA than a concept car out on the loose.

Maybe the movie was supposed to be set near the time of the LA auto show.

U know what bugs me, is when Optimus scans a Peterbilt and not a Cab over engine truck. That really gets my transformation cog in a bind.

Ok, joking aside, 3 of 5 Autobots got there scans from moving vehicles.

I have never seen a hummer ambulance, let alone lime green and im in the friggin Marines. And who the heck modifies a Top Pick to accomodate Ironhides cannons?

Final word of advice, enjoy it for what it is, cuz BB kicks major butt.

I was under the impression that the weapons were also made up of car parts, i.e. there would be no need to accommodate any extras. Am I incorrect?

I think he may be referring to the toy where the cannons literally hang out under the body work of the truck, which is purely due the the design of the figure and not an accurate representation of the movie alt-mode. In the movie they were not visible I'm sure.

What i don't like is that, Bumblebee can scan and reformat himself anytime of the day. Even on Christmas day!

I prefer a more permanent alt form.

Sure, they can scan by themselves, but only once. And it should take some special situation to be able to reformat into something else.
