I wouldn't mind seeing other TF's come in with a new form but the ones from TF1. Do you think they will change their forms in TF2?

They have to to some degree, otherwise it would be marketing suicide for Hasbro.

HasBlow wouldn't surprise me, they profit out of the body changes and alt modes the TF toys have..

Of course... Prime maybe will be a truck again but this time with a trailer Bumblebee should remain in his awesome car mode. Ratchet - some kind of a medical truck... But in what will Megs transform into?

Having the surviving characters keep their alt modes would be consistent. Although they can get away with changing the modes if they pull it off right and have a logical explanation.

They can change a little, only a little, as in a couple of details here and there that aren't in-your-face.

But they should NOT change their alt modes. In other words, you could give Ironhide different cannons or move a few panels around, but his general bot design and alt mode should remained unchanged.

If they do make drastic changes tot he surviving TFs, I'll be really disappointed, and it'll risk ruining the whole movie continuity for me...

I agree, any change that is too drastic will completely alienate the existing fans that didn't feel jipped by the first film. Existing bots will get new paintjobs or slightly different guns, bot modes, alt modes or accessories.

The whole trans-scanning thing really was a boon to Transformers as a movie franchise. Think about it: with each year's new models of cars, Optimus and Bumblebee and the rest can just scan the latest models and keep upgrading their vehicular modes. 20 years from now there can still be Transformers movies and they'll keep doing that and the whole series will never get "dated"

Well I hope when Starscream returns to earth he has to scan a new alt mode.It would be in hasbro's favor to do so,plus it would be awesome to see him as a live action F-15.Or they can take a different route like a SAAB/BAe Grippen or a S-40 or even a F-117.

Well lets see, Armada ok, then Energon yes all magor guyes got a new body, Cybertron the same.

I think in TF2, there will be different characters with different vehicle modes; isn't that good enough? Most people will pay attention to them anyway.

I think it would ruin the Toy Line too. We spend money on the 1st Movie and only to know they take different forms!

Wouldn't it cost more and take more time to give them all new robot/alt modes, instead of using the existing cgi models and actual vehicles?

It did make me wonder if they could use the alt mode scanner more then once? Bumblebee was the only one that changed his alt mode in the movie, does it take alot of energy to scan and change?

wouldn't bother me as long as they didn't do a reformatting 4-5 times in the next movie, i think if they change forms like that it sould be limited somehow, not just whenever they feel like

Of course they will even if only for more money for that douche bag Michael Bay. Don't get me wrong I liked the movie a lot but most of it was a 2 and a half hour long commercial. So, if it's going to sell cars then absolutely they will change.
