I was wondering what public opinion on Hot Rod was.
Personally I would love to see him as a red shirt bot.

I dunno, even if the leaked treatment was a fake, Hot Rod is the type of 'bot that you'd think Bay would fall in love with at first sight.

They nearly have the same MO when you think about it.

There's a treatment for TF2 floating around but no mentions of it making the final cut.

But still, no way in hell they'd make him a red shirt. Even if he did cause Prime's death in the movie cartoon, he's still prominent enough not to get blindsided.

Well its not like he'll be getting special treatment. If Hot Rod is supposed to be a pain in the ass he WILL be a pain in the ass. Since thats inevitable you could still hope he'll be punished upside-down instead of being let off easily.

Well, maybe he will do some dumb **** and Prime will get shot. Only this time, he won't DIE!

I would be worried about Optimus Prime if Hot Rod was in the movie.

Done right Hot Rod would be a great choice of new character for TF2, hell of a lot better than Arcee IMO.

i totally agree. i think adding hot rod would make the storyline even better cause he is a complex pain in the ass. all i know is they better leave prime alone this time around.

On the whole, I don't really mind either way. Not that I want Prime to get hurt, but if it gives the Transformers more story, then why not?

And, hurt me for this if you will, Hot Rod seems like somebody Bay would like.

And whoe to say the inclusion of Hot Rod neccessitates that Prime get hurt? It's been proven time and time again this isn't G1, the movie Hot Rod does not have to, and will not, echo the actions of Hot Rod in the original animated movie.

true, true. i think the way they had him in the "script treatment" was cool. i just hate for them to make this hot rod out to be a waste and major dislike like in G1. truth be told, i loved hot rod G1 until the writers of the cartoon messed his character up.

as far as bay, i do agree with that as well. like i said, hot rod is a complex pain in the ass just like bay. we all know he would love it.

The main reason was that he got Optimus killed and then he himself became a Prime right? And even then he wasn't ready and complained about it sometimes too. Being a Prime isn't a joke.

Hopefully (Haha, I so wish!) the film won't do the same thing as TFTM did with Hot Rod. IDW seems to be doing okay in waiting him out. Also in the treatment, although he did get Optimus hurt, it looked like he was punishing himself and trying to make up for it.

I worry about this though. Some new fans might accuse Bay of making a version of himself in the movie in the form of Hot Rod. Worst case scenario is that he actually does this.[/quote]

Id like to see him in TF2, but not as a "red shirt" bot. I always liked hot rod, i dont know why people despise him so much.

I just hope that if he is in the next film, his alt mode will be something that fits his character.

Apparently its because his interference got Prime killed. And then he himself became a Prime. And sucked at it. Whoever he was before that seems to have gone down the drain. I think he hated that too.

I heard that he might be a Ferrari. Something called an F430?

And f430? Hmm not my first choice but it would suit him..

Thats pretty slick. :-?

Although, I don't think they should put flames on him. Because Prime has flames. Newbies might hear about Hot Rod being Prime's successor and think that the flames mean that its a symbol placed on him to indicate that.

yup, that was the main reason. but as we all know they turned him into a little, excuse my wording, but they turned him into a little B*TCH once he became a prime. we all know being a leader isnt easy, but DANG. they just made him cry all the time and complain which in turn annoyed me and made others despise him even more since alot of people blame him for prime's death in G1.

and as far as the fans, you know they will probably say something to the fact that bay had to make a bot in his "likeness" and use hot rod as the example... :? ...lawd... :?

If I am guessing correctly, "red shirt" is a term used to describe a random character that is introduced almost entirely for the purpose of killing them off. It was coined by Star Trek fans, who noticed that any time a group left the Enterprise to visit a planet, it was always main characters plus one random new guy in a red shirt, who always ended up dead.

As for Hot Rod in TF2, I wouldnt mind, but, even though I'm a G1 fan firstly, I would rather see Hot Shot instead. Hot Shot fills the same character role as Hot Rod (and Cheetor for that matter), but having Hot Shot instead of Hot Rod would give the kids who grew up with AEC a familar face. Plus, it would drive the point home that this is NOT a G1 movie. It's a TransFormers movie for fans of ALL incarnations. So yeah, give me Hot Shot, Tidal Wave, heck, Depth Charge and Rampage would make for a great dynamic, even if they werent animals.

NO! Not Hot Shot. Hot Shot is a character that must never see the light of a TF movie. Hot Shot is more a present day Bumblebee.

In my view, I would say that Hot Shot is more of a present day Hot Rod than a present day Bumblebee, I mean, Hot Rod's and Hot Shot's names and personalities are a lot more simaler then Hot Rod's and Bumblebee's.
