DVD version different than Theater?

Am I the only one who thinks the DVD version of Transformers was a little different than the version played in theaters?
I found extra lines, a few scenes moved around and a few blue-screen scenes corrected on the DVD version. I can't put my finger on all of the changes, but I saw the movie six times in various theaters in my area, and I can tell something is quite different about the DVD version.
Anyone else had a similar experience?

Sam and Mikaila (SP?) kissed before M took BB on the tow truck. This is missing from the DVD and now they only kiss at the very end.
Also, when SecDef is saying "we're not sure if there were any survivors" on the tv, instead of showing the woman and child watching the coverage, you see the soldiers and that kid walking around first with SecDef talking in the background, and THEN you see the cut to mom and baby.
Some fighting was cut out someplace, I can just tell.
admittedly, I have a bootleg of the theater version and will compare it to the dvd probably on tuesday, my day off. I will post what I find right here unless somebody else can remember they have a bootleg and be honest enough to do a comparison. Hey.. I bought the 2 disk SPECIAL edition and these scenes are still missing.
You're not alone.

No, Sam and Mikaela didn't kiss before she left with BB on the tow-truck. I remember it vividly because I was extremely disappointed that they
didn't kiss there since it would have been such a great scene to have their first kiss.
I saw the movie in theaters 3 times and I didn't notice any differences on the DVD version. Your mind is playing tricks on you.

It is entirely possible that you saw what you saw and I saw what I saw. Did you know the first Batman with Keaton had 2 different endings both shown in theaters? The projectionist who caught it actually was running 1 room with a different reel and noticed it, called it in and got a SERIOUS promotion.
There have been cases all over the us when one state would have one set of reels and another would get something slightly different. We bank on our faulty memories to be the cause but things like this are quite common in the film industry.
Goonies in theaters had 3 scenes that never made it to the VHS and only in deleted scenes did they make it to the DVD, but they were in fact, IN the theater. Yet... yet some places did NOT have those same 3 scenes in the theater, first run even.
So I believe you. But please believe me as well.
Ask anyone you know in the movie theater buz. They'll tell you.... sometimes different versions pop up. it happens.

Seconded.
I'm a Media student & this was mentioned (with the batman thing as an example) in lessons only a few days ago. It's a small world, eh?

Well, I am certain that Uncle Bobby B said nothing in the theaters about his Mammy "being deaf" after he threatened to throw a rock at her. I also noticed that on the DVD they corrected a "blue haze" that was in the bluescreened scene where Mikaela was being lifted through the window of Sam's house by Optimus Prime. Other scenes throughout the movie seem to be slightly rearranged in order than they were played in the theaters. I also remember the kiss in the bright sunlight in the city being in the theatrical version.
Come on guys, I know I am NOT the only person out there who noticed these differences.

I saw transformers 4 times in the theatre, the version I saw never had Sam or Megan Fox kiss till the end. But I did also notice that in the Theatre Bobby B never said anything about his mammy being deaf either. I agree there are probably different versions.

Yeah, I noticed a few new lines, along with a snip of footage from the Bumblebee/Barricade fight. And the music from the final minute or so of the Prime/Megs fight is very subduded...at least on my TV.

IMDB shows the movie to be 144 minutes long. Amazon.com shows the DVD to be 143 minutes long. No answers there, but it may be that someone who has access to the pirated theatrical version may be able to do a scene by scene comparison. Thanks for your comments. If anyone else thinks of anything else or notices any other inconsistencies between the DVD version and what was shown in theaters, let me know.
Has anyone listened to the commentary on the DVD? Does it hint about any changes made in the DVD version?

I also feel like there are some more lengthy parts in the DVD, just by pure feel.. I have access to the pirated version so I will be doing some comparisons later on tonite..

Since the first scene in question is at the beginning, I popped in my Gainesville-Fla bootleg version and in THAT one he DID say it but it was low-spoken and hard to hear, yet present just the same. Of course that is a southern-usa reel. No telling where you guys are from. I do believe we've got 3 to 4 different theatrical reels already accounted for here.

My husband also doesn't remember Bobby B saying that his mammy was deaf.
I feel that there is something different in the movie as well, but I just can't put my finger on it.
I remember when my husband and I went to see Pokemon the First Movie. When it came to DVD, we noticed that a song had been taken out and replaced with another. Yes, I like Pokemon.

So far the seemingly most important issue is the Kiss. So I've looked at the OFFICIAL SPECIAL EDITION DVD, and it's NOT THERE. . . Erstwhile I DO REMEMBER IT when I went into the theater. Now, as far as my *GULP* bootleg copy, I've yet to watch for it in that. But I'm also not sure where it was taped.
I'll at least watch it later today and post again.
I maintain that I did see a kiss at the tow truck in the theater, and I'd like to log this now : Royal Park 16 on Newberry Rd, Gainesville, Fl.
This is where I saw the movie.
Please log your theatrical visits if your experience was NO KISS at tow truck, or even if it was.. lets all try to figure this out and do some homework.
We need to officially list each scene we "feel" has been omittied from the DVD and WHICH DVD we have. Also state if you have a different copy of a bootleg. nobody cares. really.
Just remember to list what theaters you saw the movie in and if your bootleg is different or if you dont have a BL, dont sweat it.
Lets pull a Hound and track this scent down baby!

I went to see it a Drive-In in Greenville PA. There was no kiss. No offense to you, but I'm telling you that your mind is playing tricks.
In fact, one of the message boards had a poster who commented that he was glad Bay didn't go for a kiss during that scene.

Saw it 3 times in the theater. I heard him say it under his breath on the third viewing.

Kiss...no kiss...who cares
The one thing they SHOULDVE changed they didnt...
"Devastator" wasnt changed to Brawl!!!!!
You'd think with all the damn toys that say Brawl on it they might have switched it?!?!?!?!
Guys/Gals- I LOVE movies...I LOVE Transformers... BUT, ya'll have way too much time on your hands to be sitting around comparing theatrical versions (region vs. region) and the DVD. Changes happen, but unless it's something truely significant who gives a rat's ass??? Unless it involves the bots or Megan Fox naked....Who cares???
PS- I hate to add to the "kiss" debate but I saw TF twice, I am in Houston, Tx, one time at normal theater opening night... NO KISS, second time a week later and 40 miles away at the IMAX (enhanced 35mm not IMAX film) NO KISS.

I don't think that's very fair. I think this topic and all these posts are a lot of fun to read. It's natural for us to pick up on changes in what we see. It's fun to discuss them. This is hardly an example of 'having too much time on our hands'.
Who cares? Well, I do.
There have already been a great example of a movie with different theatrical versions. Who knows what else has been changed that we haven't noticed yet! I personally find it exciting. Like a treasure hunt! It keeps the brain sharp!

There was no kiss when I saw it as well... and I agree, they're in mortal danger. They don't have time to be making out!

I don't know about you but, when I was a teenager, there was ALWAYS time for making out! That could just be me though.

Anyway, I do get what you are saying!

"treasure hunt," huh? "Keeps the brain sharp," hmmm?
I stand by my previous statement... Too much time on a topic that is meaningless in the bigger scheme of things, especially since the BIGGEST thing in question ( the kiss) doesnt seem to have any merit in reality.
I'd rather keep my brain sharp by hunting a woman that looks like Megan Fox.

So have fun "discovering" little tid bits out there, but I'd rather pursue something of importance.... like finding a woman as into TF as I am, instead of sitting in my mom's basement comparing bootleg theatrical releases vs. DVD and finding the differences.
Let me know when you find something of significance involving the bots. Till, then happy hunting and knock yourself out!!
