so Volkswagen wouldnt do the Transformers movie, essentially killing Jazz, because Bay hates the Solstice. They say its because " we dont want our cars in war, or violent movies"

screw you volkswagen! you killed jazz, and let GM buy the Movie, and you LIED to us!

you ninny sally's advertised all over having your Tourag in the "Bourne Ultimatem" which... TA DA! is a Freakin WAR movie
and VIOLENT.

just think... Jazz could have been a porche and lived for the sequel. Maybe Bumblebee could have been a sweet RS32 Bug.

from this day on, i will never have respect for Volkswagen.
they killed Jazz

Megatron killed Jazz.

Oh and he's staying dead. He won't be back either.

I think you'll find though VW's "we don't do war/violent movies" is an old statement, and that it was the deal Bay struck with GM that made BB and Jazz the Camaro and Solstice.

So feel free to blame Bay. A lot of people do, it's almost a hobby around here.

Firstly, how did VW kill Jazz?

Secondly, Bay approached GM...

no he didnt, GM approched Paramount and then Bay, Steven Speilberg made direct request to VW for the use Of a Bug and Porche.

VW declined.

Paramount let GM "buy" the movie. Bay had nothing to do with it, Bay has no say over vehicle used, thats all paramount and Hasbro. he is a Directer not a Producer.

by VW not letting Jazz be a better car, they inderectically cause Jazz's death.

Do you have a link to this tale of Speilberg approaching VW on behalf of the TF movie?

Because this is the first i've heard of it ...

1) VW does not own Porsche
2) I think Bay stated that the only reason BB was not a VW in the movie was because the audience might remember Herbie the Love Bug

So, VW can't kill Jazz. If you want to blame a manufacturer for Jazz's death, blame Porsche because, if I recall, Porsche also refused to license their car design to Jazz (hence the Mazda Meister BT toy) citing the same reason as VW.

And by your own twisted logic, Disney was the reason BB was not a VW.

And yeah, what's the connection between Jazz not being a Porsche and his death? :???:

Actually, Bay was worried that audience might confuse the Beetle with Herbie. And he felt that the Camaro had a "friendly" look.

And this is the first time I've heard that Spielburg approached VW.

And based on your logic, Einstein indirectly caused the creation of the Atomic bomb, so he caused the death of loads of Japanese people? So he's to blame for their deaths?

Michael Bay states in the special features that Bumblebee was NEVER going to be a VW bug, it reminded him of Herby the love bug. Also VW DOES NOT make the Porche. This has NOTHING to do with Jazz's death. RodimalToyota I can respect opinions but you need to grow up and get your facts straight.

Pardon my ignorance but is there any relationship whatsoever between VW and Porsche?

Leonardo wrote:Pardon my ignorance but is there any relationship whatsoever between VW and Porsche?

From Wikipedia:

The company has had a close relationship with Porsche, the Zuffenhausen-based sports car manufacturer founded in 1931 by Ferdinand Porsche, the original Volkswagen designer. The first Porsche cars, the 1948 Porsche 356, used many Volkswagen components including a tuned engine, gearbox and suspension. Later collaborations include the 1969/1970 VW-Porsche 914, the 1976 Porsche 924 (which used many Audi components and was built at an Audi factory), and the 2002 Porsche Cayenne (which shares engineering with the VW Touareg).

In September 2005, Porsche announced it was buying a 20% stake in Volkswagen at a cost of €3 billion, with the intention that the combined stakes of Porsche, Volkswagen and the government of Lower Saxony ensure that any hostile takeover by foreign investors would be impossible [1]. In July Porsche increased their ownership to 25.1% and in March 2007 to 30.9%.

I see. So, effectively, Porsche owns 30.9% of VW, if Wikipedia is accurate.

Watch the DVD. Michael Bay CLEARLY states that HE decided no VW for Bumblebee. Jazz was a Porsche. Umm. Duh. Come on what does Volkswagon have ANYTHING to do with JAZZ? Jazz was not a VW. Volkswagon had NO part in his decision. It was all Michael Bay.. Watch him on the DVD.

So what does this have to do with Jazz? He might not be back, but look... he was better voiced as Scatman Crothers who will never be with us again. Rest in Peace, Scatman.

Get your facts straight before jumpingoff a building here. Thanks.

I repsectfully ask everyone's forgiveness. I was upset. Please forgive. I will try hard not to infringe on this again. I just cannot believe that someone would really be this gullible even after the official word has been given.

The facts are the robots to be in the movie were NOT decided upon past Prime himself when Bay got the director's chair. Nobody approached Volkswagon OR Porsche. The decisions were all finalized and made by Bay himself.

I too heard this VW rumor and it was the pres of VW who allegedly denied them, but all of this is wrong. IF VW could not be involved, wouldn't they have SUED Bay for using a VW anyway AND slamming the Camaro door into it?

Legally, if this rumor was true at all, then NO VW would be legally allowed to be in the car lot scene since it would then be envolved in a WAR movie.

This is simply just media fodder. Sorry to burst this guy's bubble, and sorry for the caps.

Really I hate to flame, and I probably will never really do this much at all. but this guy (orig.Poster) really had me reeling. Porsche is still, at this moment, a different company from Volkswagon. I'll check again in 5 minutes.

when i find the original Article ill make sure to post it up.
Second for all the people who obviously couldnt even read the wikipedia post. VW owns a fair share of Porche now. and the two are directly related.

the funnier part about this is, how quick people are to become holier then thou on a forum, instead of showing facts, they just spout out of "ignorant" or "stupid" a poster is, even without researching anything other then THE FORUM omg!

take a chill pill, oh holiest of Transfan kings. I will find the link and post it when i do. i hate movie jazz becuase the Solstice is an Ugly, unreliable POS.. im glad Bay killed him. I just wanted to rattle the cage, and see who was actually paying attention in pre-production.
