when megatron just got out from being frozen, if you put it on slow motion and look at the bottem right of the screen as he is in alt mode and then transforming, you see about 3 guys standing there but aren't the there later on.
did anyone else see that?

Being a 'noob' to the site, the only picking I did was trying to figure out where Starscream's sword disappears to when he transforms and running certain scenes in slow motion to point out where my house is.

the new guys (like myself) are the ones who are watching the film over and over and over. I've seen it almost everyday since it first hit theatres. About 8-9 times in theatre, then on the 3 different bootlegs that were floating through my neighborhood while I waited for the dvd. Got the dvd the day it came out and it hasn't left my player since.
So yeah the new guys are picking the movie apart. But it's mostly coming from constant repeated viewings, you tend to pick up things around the 70th time you've seen a movie that you didn't notice the first 10.

Go and read the myriad of other threads where people have "nit picked" their way through the movie pointing out people suddenly disappearing, camera shadows, and many other little things people would miss if they just enjoyed the movie.

Considering this is a forum dedicated to a single movie is it really surprsing that there is going to be topics where people are "nit picking"/pointing out flaws in the movie?

But what purpose does it serve?
Why do people feel the need to point out that in one scene for the briefest second you can see the shadow of the camera, or one second there are people standing in one spot and the next they're gone.
Explain to me how that's not nit picking and why it even needs to be discussed?
If people are going to list complaints about the movie then stick to the credible ones like lack of characterization or the shaky camera, not some trivial little thing like a camera shadow you see for one second.

Ah yes I do recall and tingly yet slightly painful feeling whenever I sat down during the summer.

I don't know, I think some people like discussing trivial issues. Pointing out details like these isn't always a form of condemnation. Sometimes people enjoy seeing mistakes like these because it shows them how the film was made, like when people fondly discuss seeing the strings in Gerry Anderson productions. Provided it remains harmless and people aren't getting mean then I say let them discuss it.
