Am I the only person who is depressed about Bay doing TF2?

I mean, really. The film was awful. Too much farting around with too many human characters, and the TRANSFORMERS coming off as distinctly second fiddle. The film's about the robots, and I am not satisfied with one fight scene at the end.

I have been a fan since '84, and I feel really let down by this film.

That's really neat because I've been a fan since 84 and I was very impressed with the movie!

Actually, my favorite continuities are G1, Beast Wars and 2007 Movie, with some comic book continuities thrown in there too!

Of course, perhaps it's because I get the point that CGI is expensive and maybe that's why not 90% of the film was bot on bot action, or other reasons.

But to each his own, I don't care who directs the next one, and I don't care who writes it, as long as we see more characters like these and more developing of them.

But yeah, maybe you are right, EVERYTHING about this movie is ALL Bay's fault, EVERYTHING!

"Am I the only person who is depressed about Bay doing TF2?"

Yes.

Bay has set the tone and benchmark for the series now, and for him not to return for the sequels would be like the Wachowski Brothers not returning for the Matrix sequels, or Lord Of The Rings and Peter Jackson, etc etc.

I was more than impressed by the movie and i simply cant wait for whats next.

I'm sure TF:2 will be just as big of a commercial flop as the first one was. :-?

and how 'bout people start bashing Stephen Spielberg for his involvement. Making me feel bad when Bumblebee got captured. The nerve of that jerk. What's he think this is? E.T.? Like I'm just gonna feel some kind of compassion for some Alien that isn't even there but is a special effect?

Oh wait, I did.

I couldn't stand the film for totally different reasons.
I actually love human intereaction, but as it was Bay, the humans were 2 dimensional cliche's and unconvincing (except Shia).
I love Transformers too, but for personalities, so I had nothing there either.

I'm known for hating the G1 show for being stupid, but the movie made it look like Shakespeare.
A lot of that blame lies with Bay. In my opinion he's dumbed the franchise down to an all time low, so yes, I hate that he's still involved.

When ANY of us speak, we voice our opinion.
We shouldn't need to state "in our opinion", the fact we're speaking should be enough.

Unless of course, you really believe everyone speaks nothing but universal fact unless they post a disclaimer?

Saying anything in the world, ever, is good, bad, great, awful is always opinion.

Like you said it's not awful. That too is opinion.
You didn't say "imo" though did you?

Saying it wasn't financially unsuccessful is fact, but that doesn't make it factually good, bad or average as there is no such thing.
These words only ever have a personal meaning based on every individual's criteria, morals etc and are neither right or wrong, just opinion.

It's liking saying someone is attractive or ugly. It's never factual, it's always opinion based on personal taste.

If you need someone to say that an opinion is an opinion when it can't actually be anything else, then it's you who has the problem, not the poster.

He said it was awful. That can only be opinion, nothing else.
He then explained why it was awful to him, therefore explaining why he has the opinion he did as opposed to just stating like or hate without basis or giving no points to counter.
That's a decent post, he did everything you claim he didn't, and he did nothing wrong.

"In my opinion."

I don't hink the first movie's faults were so much Bay's as they were the script writer's. That's why we need to write the next script. :P

Yes because a bunch of hardcore G1 fanatics who have no story telling experience what so ever are going to do such a great job at writing a movie that can appeal to all audiences than actual, professional script writers....

I disagree, I thought the movie was awsome. Only thing i would fix is make a few wider shots with the tfs. I think he'll do a great job with tf2

I seem to be in the minority with this, but... I *liked* the human focus in the first movie.

Yeah, we could have focused entirely on the robots, with Earth as a fancy backdrop full of useless humans running around screaming. It would even be fun. But it would also, IMO, at best feel like a series TV-movie (which is what the original movie feels like to me) or at worst a fanservice B-Movie.

No, I like the fact that the movie plays to more realistic responses of what is likely to happen if two alien factions show up and start using our planet as a battlefield. Sam plays like your typical self-centered, naive teenager trying to juggle meeting alien beings with getting the girl and not getting grounded. And the military/government response feels like how they would react to hostile attacks and potential invasion. It all provides a necessary emotional and narrative grounding to drawing in new potential fans who, at the opening credits, could really care/know less about the weird alien robots.

Now that the military and Sam believe the Autobots are friendly and the Decepticons are gone, the way is clear and established for the second movie to focus more exclusively on the Transformers without feeling too much like it's "only for the geeks".

The only human character I personally would have gotten rid of is Glenn, the hacker guy. It would have been tighter narratively to simply have Maggie's official team decipher the signals, and would have better fit the otherwise professional and competent government/military response. (Simmons being the exception... and I'm willing to forgive him because the rest of Sector 7 wasn't dotty.)

In short: Bring on more Bay. I anticipate the sequel with glee.

Oh, you mean "masturbate"?

What is it with people and their beef with this being in the script? What are they too good to hear a joke about something we ALL do? Or are they too up their own asses that hearing such a thing makes them vomit because its too "disgusting"? Seriously...

We don't have to call it that. We could call it "Sam's Happy Time."

Sorry, that was too easy. :p

They lied? My god, you make it sound like there were supposed to be weapons of mass destruction... and they couldn't find them!

The writers are LIARS!! Burn them! Have them Drawn and Quartered then buried alive. This was supposed to be a masturbation free movie. We were mislead and look at the quagmire this administration of writers has gotten us into. 8-|

They are just a bunch of lying liers that lie.

From terms of cinematography, it was god-awful. Bad writing with plotholes the size of texas. "Let's take the cube and hide it in the city!" I'm almost sure that was the exact line.

How stupid can you get.

The TF's were probably the most visually impressive thing I've seen on screen in my life. And I can appreciate the process because I'm going into the field.

Too bad they transformed too quick to watch, and you have to look at a bloody artwork to see what they actually looked like.

The human characters were annoying and stupid, the humor insultingly childish and retarded, and the action editing senseless, shaky, and loud.

Yeah, I'm pretty depressed.

i dont know i im not to famlir with bay and his films to well but once heard that bay likes doing things differntly compared to othre dierctors like the bay cam on the go cart and make things more realistcly yeah i like that idead for the action stuff but the writer need to kick up a bit im saying not make it into batman forvevr and batman robin movie with atnippiles on the suits but make some of the script ...... like alien, or predator films evrytime i watch those type of films it gets into the scifi alien element.

i know it was the first film for the series but maybe the sequel could more action between with the humans and show more robots and show half the percantage of humans in the sequel that they did in the first sounds confusing cut the humans scenes in half possibly and show more humans with the robots ill go with that
