Where have you heard that Bay has refered to the tank as Brawl?I havent heard a single word from him thats really on topic.
The way I see it, it's no mistake. As far as I know the story that it may have been a mistake is only a rumor that has not been proven ither way,but in my opiniom it is highly unlikely.
1.st of all to believe its a mistake you have to first acsept the fact that the writters arent fans of Transformers....witch they are.
2.nd You would also have to believe that all the production people didnt catch the mistake before the film was released.I really dont think that all those people were that incompetant.
3.rd You would also have to believe that Bay didnt pay attention to the intro of the big action scene when he was editing.....and that both Bay and De,Santo [head producer] didnt catch the mistake when they got their private viewing weeks before the film was released.
4.th Bay and the other's involved where talking for some time before the film was released that we would see a tank in the movie that had a connection to a combiner team.....Of course most fans assumed that it would be Brawl [from Bruticus]
5.th If it were a mistake why didnt Bay have it fixed for the DVD release??????????All the fan's were demanding that he change it for the DVD.
Thats way to many things to assecpt to believe it was a mistake.
Most likely it was this........Its a well knowen fact that Bay hate's it when he's told how to make a movie. He hated that the choice to cast the voice of Optimus Prime was taken away from him.He fought those incharge above him on this film for the right to chose someone other then Frank Welker [G1 ] or David Kaye [Beast Wars] to be the voice of Megatron.
He also refused to allow Peter Cullen [Prime] to also do the voice of Ironhide like he did in the original G1 cartoon.
Bay also chose an other member of the team that forms Deverstator [The Constructions] to be in the film and killed him off too....Bonecrusher.Why would he do unless he intended not to use the team?????Thats two name's from the team that he already used up.
And yes I know the name Bonecrusher has been used in some of the other serries but the writters have stated that they were under orders to find only name's that they could still use [under copyright] from the G1 list of characters. All the names used were G1.
I also know that there's no reason to assume that Bonecrusher has to be a member of any new team of Decepticons but if I'm right Hasbro cant use at least 2 of the names of other members of the Constructicons because of copy rights laws.
So why would Bay allow a mistake that may limit his ability to use the team at all make it to the DVD release.
My guess is that useing those names was Bays way to insure that he not be "TOLD" witch characters to use in his 2nd film.
Its a well knowen fact that Bay is very manipulative.........look how he tryed to manipulate the studio when they announced that they were only going to release the film on standerd DVD and HD DVD.He stated publicly that if they limited the film to only HD DVD and no Blue Ray release that he would in no way return to direct a 2nd film.
Paramont didnt back down and now Bay has changed his mind and is doing the 2nd film.
He named the tank Deverstator on purpose....it was no mistake.
