Will there be an extended DVD?

I have been around for while but just now got around to registering.
I loved transformers as a kid in the 80's. When I first heard that there was going to be a live action movie I was so excited.
I personally thought the movie was great. My kids always thought I was a dork for liking transformers as a kid. Not any more I am a cool mom now  I have seen the movie only a few times. I have not bought a copy yet, yes it has been torture. :( I am the mom sitting on the couch in Circut City wathing the movie on their theater display! I am hoping they will make an extended version like they did with Lord of the Rings. We are getting ourselves a 56 in plasma TV for christmas this year so I am hoping that there will be an extended version to watch with the new TV.

Welcome to Seibertron, contains nuts blah blah blah.

All that boring friendly welcoming stuff aside (i'm kidding btw, i'm only that grumpy for real on a Monday) there's been no mention of an extended version YET.

However a lot of people feel that somewhere down the track such an edition will be released to fleece us poor fans of more money.

Do you expect the extended version to have only the IMAX footage or do you think it will have even more?

It'd better have more, IMO. They're already milking this like crazy with all the "Special DVD Sets" only available at certain stores and such. Here's hoping they don't do the same with the extended DVD--you get the IMAX footage with the Target version, but for cut scenes you have to get the WalMart one, and for extended battle sequences you must buy it through Amazon.com or something... argh!

I think if they had more action, transformation etc money shots, they wouldn've used it before now. What might hopefully happen if they do do an extended DVD though, is they do pickups in which new sequences are created or filmed, similar to what they did for LOTR.

This usually happens after the original release of the movie. However it would take a lot of resources to do, and they have to decide if they want to do this and have a sure market of people who will purchase the new extended DVD to make it worth their while to do so.

The scenes are listed on imdb. They're also, I think, in the deleted scenes section of the regular DVD.

Sorry if I'm spoiling it for some, but I enjoyed how they extended Jazz's death.

Really? I read the imdb thing and it didn't say anything about a scene like that. What happened in it? I would've liked more of a reaction to Jazz's death than Optimus saying, "Aw, Jazz." All that imdb listed were:

1. Additional footage with Sam and Miles

2. Extended cop interrogation scene

3. Extra bits in the Sector Seven Escalade after being taken from Sam's house

4. Extended Hoover Dam briefing

5. Pre AllSpark and "Energizer Bunny From Hell" extended scene

6. Rhonda's Pawn Shop revealed

7. Extended IMAX Credits

I'm willing to bet they release another DVD with new commentaries and deleted scenes the week before Transformers 2 comes out

Yeah, it was only like 3 seconds longer, but they showed Megatron ripping Jazz up close and at a different angle. You actually(or at least I did) got a sence of some feeling from his death.
