Bought Transformers Movie from Amazon.co.jp

A couple of years ago, I tried ordering some DVD sets from Amazon Japan but it wouldn't accept orders from the U.S. I thought I'd give it another shot today so that I could order the Transformers Movie in Japanese. Lo and behold, I was able to place an order after registering again. I was really tempted to buy some Japanese Transformers toys as well but I resisted for the time being.

This would provide an interesting alternative to getting Japanese figures in the future rather than buying them through US importers.

Might need a few shots first to watch 2.5 hours of the Transformers Movie in Japanese.

Ryan

Cool. Though why you didn't just ask one of your Japanese contacts to set you up with one of the special editions (like the one with the redeco'd Blackout and the DVD, for example) is beyond me.

Amazon Japan doesn't ship toys (or video games and a few other things) to places outside of Japan.
They do however send DVDs (as you found out), CDs (got my original TF:TM soundtrack from them, was a bit cheaper than the local Amazon) and Books. Other Amazons are quite like that, no shipping toys outside the local market, but shipping DVDs around the world.

I don't know when you last tried to order DVDs with them, but I can't remember a time when they didn't allow ordering of DVDs from foreign countries).

Here's the link to the Japanese version of MP G1 Starscream, it states that they don't ship outside of Japan, same as other toys (and if you have problem reading it, switch the language to English - makes the important parts of the site readable).

Bring it out to Botcon, I am sure we can rustle up some company to watch it with you!

Friend of ours went to China and bought a Chinese version of Star Wars, you could select english subtitles. It was so funny. Count Duku translated as the Database Count and the Jedi Council as the Presbyterian Church. I wonder if yours will be as entertaining!

Did they happen to subtitle Vader's "Nooooooooo!" by any chance?
