Why did the Protoforms Crash?

Did I miss something? Why do Transformers crash land as protoforms? Did they run out of money to buy spaceships? :???:

I know this is a Real World answer to an In-Fiction question, but the reason they use those Protoforms is because Bay and Co decided it didn't make sense for them to use Space Ships when they might as well just turn into one themselves.

The reason they have to crash is fairly simple. They're disguising themselves as meteors that no one will be interested in.

Also G forces pulled them down and they had a crash landing

Perhaps a lack of steering :???: Or perhaps they were in disguise as meteorites to not attract attention as an alien life form. Wait a minute, Meverix said that already.

I heard that a ship was planned to be used for their arrival in the first movie but it was removed for budgetary reasons.

If trying to disguise themselves as meteors then that had the opposite effect as it attracted people and the news crews.

Somebody needs motivation to read a book you say?

Go to youtube and search "read a book." It should be the 1st video.

If that doesn't motivate you ... nothing will. I would provide a link, but I cannot get onto that site from my work computer.

Perhaps he doesn't have the prequal novel, and can't get it/isn't interested in it.

I was just thinking they wanted to get rid of a headache, and they heard dropping from orbit and landing on your head cures it.

But if there is an instory explaination for the crashing, please, enlighten us.

Simple.

You don't think a giant alien spaceship landing would be dramatic? If not a little cliche.

The reason, as was given by the makers themselves, was that if these robots can transform into virtually anything, they can transform into space-fairing vehicles, even temporarily, rendering the whole space-ship notion redundant.

It would possbily have cost a lot too, as has been suggested.

The Prequel Novel (which contradicts the prequel comics) has them arrive in our solar system in The Ark (I believe), and then they travel the rest of the way by protoform. The reason they have an Ark here when the makers were like "NOWAI" about it, is because obviously the novel has actually nothing to do with the film. Its just merchandise.

Yes it would be very cliche, not to mention expensive and impractical. Where would they park the sucker where it wouldn't get discovered for a start? Not to mention that would make one helluva big blip on the human radar. After all they are trying to hide and not draw attention to themselves and whilst crashing down to earth with a bang made a lot of noise, no one found out what they were.

I agree with the film makers that they dont need space ships. Humans only need them because we cant survive or travel through space unaided. The idea of the bots not needing space ships to do that just further puts the idea accross how awesome and advanced they are compared to us.

And, like i already said, the crash landings looked cool and dramatic and you gotta remember its Micheal Bay as well, he has a penchant for meteors blowing stuff up. :P

They take disguises - but dont see any problem crashing into a stadium?!? - what if people had been in that stadium??? How many would have been killed - how many people would have seen them?

Doesnt make much sense....god bless Michael Bay

This would probably be Bay's explanation too. Makes sense.

Having the Transformers be at the mercy to the forces of nature really gives them a much greater mortality too.
