If you were watching the Super Bowl tonight at the beginning interview with Jimmy Johnson, the background music was "Arrival from Earth" from the Transformers Movie Score by Steve Jablonsky!

I assume that's the song that plays during the part when the Autobots crash land on Earth and take on their new forms.
I didn't watch the Super Bowl.

That would have been nice to see. I, sadly, did not watch the beginning.... but I did watch the Giants win in the end. Whoooo!

Me neither. I did beat the original Legend of Zelda in 2 hours 35 minutes from title screen to end of the credits!
I won a bet!

Even better, The Giants won!
I didn;t watch the game as I don't care for football, but I grew up right across town from their stadium, so yeah, I'm happy that local boys made good!
PS, just to piss some people off, if the Stadium is in Jersey, then they can't quite be a NY team now can they, stop mooching!

I turned to my 8 year old and asked if he knew what the background music was. He listened for a few seconds then cracked a huge smile. "Cool!" was all had to say. Summed up my thoughts pretty well. Could not have asked for a better background score for a lead-in to the game.

Before the Giants played in jersey they did play in New York. They played in yankee stadium. Thats why they are a New York team and not a jersey team. That little tidbit should unpiss the people that got pissed about your little factoid. Oh and not to mention NY has 3 NFL teams. The Giants, Jets, and Bills. What other state can say that?

Same with me, I was sure that it was the Transformers score when I watched the Super Bowl, just didn't know which song, I couldn't have asked for a better score!

Yeah, I thought that was quite cool too.
That and the Terminator fighting with the NFL bot was pretty cool.
The Giants whooped on the Pats offensive line. Brady barely had a clear look all night. And when he did he was a little off target. He made it interesting, but Eli really showed his stuff. I guess Brady should sort of feel badly that he couldn't walk his talk... The Giants D line sure backed Plax up though...

Oh yeah, it was really quiet at first and I could barely hear over people talking.
but it sounded familliar and I was like "ITS ARRIVAL TO EARTH!"
and then people stared at me...
but a few minutes later my less nerdy friends were like "isn't this from transformers?"

I noticed it. I was all like "Why are they playing Transformers during the Super Bowl?"
Made it worth watching, IMO

That part of the score was so cheesy it was the first time in longer than I can remember that I actually felt embarrassed to be watching a movie.
I'm just sayin'.

The ironic thing is... I didn't watch the Super Bowl, but a friend and I *did* decide to watch the '07 movie, so I heard that song anyway last night.
And "cheesy"? No way! That whole sequence was gorgeous, and the music helped make the alien/awestruck feeling of it. I love listening to it by itself on my CD, too.

I recognized it from the movie, wasn't sure what it was. I thought it was maybe the Allspark or Autobots theme (they both use similiar melodies to "Arrival to Earth.)

Yeah, and 2 of them play in my old home town! Note the use of the word old, since I don't live there anymore, I can't call it that anymore.
By your logic, The Dodgers are still a NY team.
2 more fun facts, The Empire State Building was fabricated in Carlstadt NJ, and was then assembled in NY, and the Statue is actualy on our side of the river.

I thought is was the AllSpark track personally, but Arrival to Earth is just as good. I said on the NFL post that FOX and CBS have been using tracks from the movie sountrack pretty much all season for highlights and background. I'll reiterate: it's too bad everyone EXCEPT THOSE CHOOSING THE OSCAR NOMINATIONS has realized what a fantastic job Stevie J did on that soundtrack.
Fun Fact for Today: Composer John Williams holds the record for most Oscar nominations AND most Oscars won with 45 and 13 respectively; the runner up, with just 12 NOMINATIONS (let alone wins) is Glenn Close. Something for Jablonsky to aspire to...but no one does it better than John Willams.

Isn't it illegal for official organisations to play trademarked music publicly, without permission?
In any case, I hate it whenever any show, theme park or generally public organisation steals good music in a desperate effort to create atmosphere. Go write your own music or pay the composer proper.

I'm sure they had permission, paid royalties, etc.
