In various media relating to the Movie story, it is mentioned/implied that Optimus Prime and Megatron from the Movie universe are brothers. But there's one problem, who's older and who's younger?

What you guys think? Between Prime and Megs, who do you think is the older brother, who do you think is the younger brother, and why?

I think Prime's the older one.

I'm not sure why I think so. It's just a feeling I have. It seems right somehow.

Probably because Prime is more laid back, and he's the one who almost feels sympathy for his brother. So maybe Prime a bit older, but roughly the same age.

Prime is elder, but Megatron outgrew him.

Primes older. He's mature megs is just power hungrey and will do what ever it takes to get what he want's just like alot of younger siblings.

Yeah, if that's the case, I find Prime even more admirable... it's quite a bother to have an upstart young brother and the reality is Megatron is physically stronger than Prime, but Prime more than makes up for that with his charisma, kindness, intelligence, etc.

not that I thought his plan to put the Allspark in himself was smart though. :p

I find the problem to be that they are brother, period. What an overused plot device.

But in the spirit of the thread..... hmm, why can't they just be twins with different personalities? Optimus just acts like the older, responsible sibling and Megatron the greedy sibling that wasn't hugged enough as a child.

They're not really brothers. It's called a figure of speech.

Prime called Megatron his brother because he was reaching out to him to end the fighting.

Twins would mean that they look the same either with the same design and thus have the same abilities and twins are often thinking the same way, feel the same way and this was not the case obviously with prime and megatron.
Brother could have simply meant they were fellow cybertronians but then they'd all refer to each other as brothers so I tend to think brother might mean they had the same creator...I hope it turns out to be alpha trion...make megatron a little older, he was created first and did not turn out to nice, prime came second.

Just like on star trek the next generation, Lore was created first and Data second, Lore being the evil one for those that may not know.

Megatrons Older, Because:A. He's Bigger And B:Younger sibblings are ussauly nicer.

I'd say Prime is the oldest, when he said "you left me no choice brother." It sounded like he was the oldest of the two.

Yet when Megs yelled, "You still fight for the weak!" he sounded like he was talking to a younger/inferior bot.

But I'm still not sure who's younger/older.

Why is that so????More then 3/4 of the twins born in the U.S. alone are fraternal twins aka non-Identical twins.

And being that father of Identical twin girls I can tell you that its a common misconception that twins tend to think the same things or feel the same way on subjects and more then other siblings that are close in age and are raised together.

While twins have more of a understanding about each other they are not always very alike in personality.

While Lore was created befor Data was he was not the first created.

Dr.Noonien Soong created at least 1/2 a dozen other androids before creating Lore.

On of those was the one revealed in the last TNG movie called B4.

Seems to me like your complaining just to complain.

Another possible piece of evidence that Prime is the younger bro is that in the prequel comic (and the "Beginnings" DVD) Prime refers to Megatron, even after his bretrayal, as "Lord" Megatron, suggesting a possible superiority of Megs over Prime. But even that is still vague.

Interesting way to look at it........I wouldnt look at it that way but I can see your point.

Well, in a separate thread someone suggested Prime is actually Optimus's title, much like Lord or Lord high Protector for Megatron. Prime means first, so that might be a clue to his being older.
