When watching the opening sequence of The 80th Annuals Oscars tonight they showed characters from various movies, one being Megatron running/skating alongside the van from the video.

That's about it. Here to hoping for a Transformers Oscar win. Whooo!

Actually when he first showed up it was Bonecrusher, than he oddly morphed into Megatron...

They also has Starscream transform and shoot, like he did on the bridge in the movie.

I sincerely hope that the Oscar people realize that the Transformers are supposed to transform into vehicles and electronics. Not each other.

It was wierd. It was like in one shot Bones was skating, then in the next shot it was Megatron's face in the window of the truck...

You're right, it was Bonecrusher. Either way, it's was fun seeing the Decepticons get recognized versus Optimus or Bumblebee.

Now I feel like a retard. :-(

Whatever.

Optimus Prime can still whoop the **** out of a bunch of defenseless bears anyway.

Yeah, but that polar bear was voiced by Sir Ian McKellan.

Sir Ian McKellan played Gandalf in LotR.

Would you say no to Gandalf?

Megatron would

I was very surprised by the loss. :/ It is nominated in a couple more categories tho, right? It can still get a win.

It's still up for Best Achievement in Sound and Best Achievement in Sound Editing.

But if visual effects didn't win, what chance, then, do they have?

Of what? That the academy is littered with out-of date dinosaurs past their prime?

I fail to see what's so glamorous about Polar bears over robots that can seemlessly turn into vehicles. Well, guess Bay's just gonna have to turn it up a knotch in TF2. Still I call 1 out of 3!

As a matter of fact, how can you guys consider yourselves fans if you're so bent on the movie not winning? Seem more your priorities are on groping your personal egos.

I am not a huge fan of the damn TF movie...but COME ON!!! You cant be serious!! Anyone can recognize that Transformers should have won that category. That is just out and out insane!! A flipping tragedy!

I always enjoy how fans of a genre judge other fans based on their own values as to "what constitutes a true fan".

I offer no explanation to the loss, but just because they lost visuals doesn't mean they will lose in sound editing. Visuals and sound editing are two different things, after all.

Because there's more to Transformers than one movie.

And yes, i'm surprised it lost out in the visual effects. Haven't seen Golden Compass but I doubt the animators pioneered the sort of stuff the TF guys did.

Not that it matters, the Oscars don't mean crap to me, most of the winners over the years are actors I don't like or movies i've never even heard of.

I think it's a fantastic decision. There were "actual characters" in the Golden Compass vs. advertisements for GM. Not to mention that overall, the Golden Compass had much better production design, character animation and human/critter interaction.

Transformers had a bunch of long shots and close ups of moving metal. Some ugly, UGLY lip animation, and really, in the end, animating animals who fit into their surroundings, is a lot harder than animating alien robots who can do anything.

I bought a talking Polar Bear toy- I didn't buy a talking Optimus (Flames on my nipples) Prime.

Talking Polar Bear kicks TINO's sorry tinfoil butt! Huzzah!
