I'm hoping for bands like Avenged Sevenfold and Rob Zombie!

As Transformers fall under science-fiction, I think the movie would be best off with a primarily classical-type score [think Star Wars and Star Trek]. Perhaps some synthesized touches at select points to impart robotiness [that's an um, technical term].

Though I certainly think the original theme should at least appear in the beginning [less vocals probably] - it doesn't need to be a direct carry over, some reworking would be fine.

Yes! ;)^

We had a discussion last (post too old) about something instrumental like a Basil Poledouris (Conan the Barbarian), or Jerry Goldsmith (like Total Recall), or even Brad Fidel(Terminator) amoung others. Not sure if John Williams could pull it off, though I love his work.

Anything but a band soundtrack like travisties against good taste like the so called Spiderman soundtracks and the origonal TF Movie.

it's a summer blockbuster, and considering the amount of merchandising we've already seen with it there's no way it won't have a song-based sound track of some sort, probably comprised of bland pop-rock. a classical score is a possibility, and would certainly be nice, but there's going to be a soundtrack.

i'm a realist, so i know the chance of decent bands in the soundtrack is pretty slim, but i'd love to see a megadeth song in there somewhere, and it would work out nicely since they have a new album coming out. i'd like to see dream theater show up too, but i'm not holding my breath on that one.

and yes, i know i've said i don't care at all about the movie at this point, and that remains true. but that doesn't mean i can't still hold out hope for something with the tf name attatched to have some iota of goodness, even if it's just the soundtrack to a crappy movie.

Some Classical, Electronica/Trance and Metal would set the ambiance very well for such a "technology" movie.

//Can't stand the Spiderman movies
///Batman Begins...much better

Aren't there certain songs Bumblebee plays through his radio? Will they make it onto the OST CD?

Joe Satriani. Wouldn't that be sweet?

Definitely hopign for an instrumental soundtrack, not just flavour-of-the-month disposable alt rock junk. It's Spielberg's baby, so there's probably hope.

Do you mean the Score or the Soundtrack? if you mean the score it'll probably be mostly orchestrel with elements of techno thrown in. as for the sound track its (the Movie) aimed at the Kids so pretty your either going to get teany bopper Rock or HipHop. I like Hip Hop to a degree SO I'll be alright with that.But I could care less about AFI and all there clones though.

Something akin to the Matrix would be nice, or even Mortal Kombat-ish. Trevor Rabin can do some good stuff, too.

:BOT: I'm getting into Muse so I'd like to see them on the soundtrack.

The perfect band for this type of movie? Coheed & Cambria. They're lyrics are based on their own science fiction epic. :CON:

I have two different types of music I listen to and I doubt songs from either type will be the main soundtracks in the film.

Please, anyone but John Williams. All his music sounds these days.
IMO I think Omar Rodriguez-Lopez would have been a good choice but the score has most very likely been done by now...

As long as it's not some emo/pop-punk bullcrap. Last thing I want to hear is something whiny about being a hero.

Zombie has that great industrial/metal feel.

Personally, there's an industrial band that's been around since the late '80's called Front Line Assembly who would be perfect for this kind of thing. With titles like Tactical Neural Implant, you can't go wrong.

The soundtrack really needs to hit 80's nostalgia on the head with the inclusion of 80's soundtrack master,
KENNY LOGGINS!!!! :P

I'm thinking they should go along the lines of Doom: classical orchestrated music mixed with metal/rock.

And I still think they should put "Mr. Roboto" on the soundtrack :P

Well, it's not entirely out of place, since the 1986 movie had Wierd Al's "Dare to be Stupid" which was essentially a tribute to Devo.

The music score for Atari's Transformers game was pretty good, maybe have the same team work on it

Actually, Ozzy's "Iron Man" would be a PERFECT hand-to-hand battle sequence song!
