Will G.I. Joe And Transformers Be In The Same Universe?

If the upcoming live-action G.I. Joe movie does well, will they put it and the Transformers movies in the same universe? Can we eventually expect to see a G.I. Joe/Transformers live-action crossover movie? Or at least a TF movie with G.I. Joe characters in it?

It would be better then a X-files Tf cross over film :P

Marvel seems to be working on a Prototype for "Movieverses." So...maybe.

No it wouldn't. :P

Actually, how about a Transformers, X-Files, G.I. Joe crossover?! And we can throw the X-Men in for added fun!

It can be done. No seriously! :P

We can make Zartan Mystic's brother! Wolverine and the Neo Vipers could be a kind of super soldier introduce during the last seasons of the X-Files! Walter Skinner and General Hawk could have served together in their younger years in Vietnam!

As for Mulder, Scully, and Optimus Prime? Let's just say there is a VERY special connection between the three! Let's also say there is a VERY special connection between Mulder and Arcee! But it can't be revealed now because it's a SUPER SHOCKER  and one doesn't want to spoil the "Sixth Sense" plot twist!

Actually come to think about it, they already did an X-Files/G.I. Joe crossover. Well sort of. It was the X-Files episode, "Jump The Shark". :P

I'm not an X-files junkie so please explain this one to me.

How about we just have NO CROSSOVERS?

Here's a reality check.

Not all Transformer fans are fans of G.I. Joe.
Not all G.I. Joe fans are fans of Transformers.

Trying to make a movie to bring the two franchises together that not only appeals to the public but also appeases the majority of fans is just not worth the effort.

Just leave 'em alone.

This episode featured a lady with a british accent who was trying to help Scully and the Lone Gunmen stop her father's plans that would result in the deaths of thousands. She told them that her father was a billionaire international arms dealer. She basically hated him and everything he stood for and called him the "scum of the earth". Sounds like Destro to me!

And the vast majority of the Transformers movie audience were not ardent fanboys and fangirls who cared around flames on Prime or claws on Megatron or even Anthony Anderson's annoying presence. And the vast majority of the G.I. Joe movie audience won't care about the G.I. Joe black costumes, will most likely have seen Transformers before, and, in regards to a crossover movie will probabely go "Oh" or "Cool" and see such a movie. Money is all that matters to Hasbro and Paramount. They don't care about the opinions of a few against such a crossover movie. If G.I. Joe is successful, it could very well happen.

Yes, take two successful franchises and combine them into one.

Fabulous idea.

Marvellous even.

... someone remind me how that worked out financially for the Aliens and Predator franchises in regards to the movies?

What, Optimus Prime is actually dead???

Hey, how about Transformers/Terrahawks crossover? That could work. Nah, I'm kidding, I'm a purist - I say keep TFs separate.

IIRC, both AVP films were quite succesful financially, despite the fanboy hatred towards them.

So yes, the studios might consider TF crossovers in the future. Money's more important than the sanctity of the fanbase's childhoods, right?

With Indy4 featuring Sam Witwicky and Han Solo, a Star Wars Transformers crossover (properly done) can't be too far away.

So wait, are you saying that the vast majority of people who saw Transformers last summer were people who didn't like Transformers in general? Or that most people who will see G I Joe are the same? So suddenly, movies are produced that don't appeal to the fanbase of a franchise but are designed to only appeal to people who don't care about the franchise at all? "Look honey, a movie about space robots that I don't care about at all. Let's go see it!"???

To me it sounds like your stretching it a bit.

I can make the same comparisons between that character you described to characters from shows like the A-Team,"Knight Rider and quite a few comic book characters.

Yes, that's how movies work. Like it or not, the fanbase is a rather small percentage of any given movie. So, of course, any given movie is geared toward the "General Audience."

And becuase of that, we mainly have origin stories for adaptations of comics, cartoons, TV shows, games, etc.

But back to the threads subject, I don't know but it would be cool if it was referenced in a scene involving the government discussing matters at hand.

Didn't they already include some small GI Joe easter eggs like Captain Lennox? I think they won't go much further than that.

I wouldnt say that. The character only appeared in the TF/GIJoe cross over book and was never a regular Joe.

According to IMDB they also put Capt B. Armbuster, better known as Ace, in the movie as one of the F-22 Pilots. His name can be seen on one of the cockpits.
They don't list any other easter eggs though, and I read elsewhere that in the novelization he is given the nickname "Wild Bill".
