I finally saw one of the packages (Megatron on front, Bumblebee on back), and I was looking over the info blurb about Bumblebee, and it said something to the effect that the '08 Camaro was built in less than 5 weeks, and in working order...but that it was only for the film. (I know it said it was for the film, and 5 weeks, that's for sure.)

Is that true? Can anyone confirm this little factoid?

The camaro for the film was built on a gto platform so all they had to do was fibergalss the body, paint it and mock up the interior. So it is possible to do in 5 weeks.
