LOS ANGELES - Shia LaBeouf won't face a drunken driving charge for his involvement in a July crash that left his hand mangled.

Los Angeles County District Attorney spokeswoman Jane Robison said Thursday there was "insufficient evidence" to charge LaBeouf with drunken driving.

Robison says prosecutors are mulling charges against two other people involved in the collision. She says she could not provide more details.

LaBeouf was arrested July 27 after an early morning crash that injured his hand and sent him to a hospital for several days. Sheriff's deputies said later that LaBeouf was not at fault in the accident, which occurred in West Hollywood.

According to MTV.com, and People Magazine.com, actor Shia LaBeouf will not be charged with a DUI in his accident from late in the summer.

Shia, star of Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen, Eagle Eye, and other movies, has faced his fair share of negative comments from fans about his exploits from the summer, must feel a but of relief following the outcome.

"After reviewing the case, we've declined to file any charges due to insufficient evidence," says DA spokeswoman Jane Robison.

Following the crash, the 22-year-old Transformers star was cited with misdemeanor DUI while he was still at the hospital.

Prosecutors instead plan to file criminal charges against the other driver, who was found to have run a red light, Robison says.

"We're very happy with the prosecutor's decision, and we're glad this whole thing resolved without Shia having to go to court," LaBeouf's attorney Michael Norris tells PEOPLE

I think justice was served here. Hopefully Shia will look down at his hand every time he picks up a drink and realize just how lucky he was. I am not saying that if he was not drinking that night that the accident would not have happened, just that maybe he learned something from this.
