Paramount Pictures, and Transformers Executive Producer Steven Spielberg officially called their working relationship over.

Spielberg will still retain the rights to co-produce and develop certain movies with Paramount that are still owned by Paramount including the very popular TRANSFORMERS Live Action Movie Franchise.

Under the separation agreement announced Sunday, the new company, to be led by three-time Oscar winner Spielberg and Snider, will develop a number of projects now owned by Paramount, which would have an option to co-finance and co-distribute them.

DreamWorks counts "Transformers" and "Norbit" among its recent hits.

No, and the subject line "Steven Spielberg Splits!" is totally misleading. He's splitting from Paramount, but part of the deal is that he will continue to be Executive Producer on the TF films.

eh, it doesn't effect the movie.

can't believe Norbit was classed together along with The Transformers. Norbit was an awful, almost unwatchable movie.

It's not misleading, he has split from Paramount, except on a few shared properties, which I believe was stated in the article.

I no way did I say he split from being the TRANSFORMERS producer, in fact, my goal was to show that despite him leaving Paramount, he was still going to be a part of TRANSFORMERS.

It's about time in my opinion. Paramount was really just a means to an end for him anyway. He's big enough in his own right that he really shouldn't need to deal with Paramount, Universal or others.
Dreamworks should be able to cover everything: Production, post-production and on down to distribution. Spielberg and Lucas are the 2 most powerful men in the industry so anybody worried about the effects of the split on TF2 or TF3 really shouldnt worry. If either of those men has a project or series of projects in the works, nobody else really has the stones to interfere or have a drastic effect on it. If Spielberg were at all concerned he wouldn't have done it right in the middle of TF2.

I find it offensive that so many Americans think they live in the only country on earth.
Norbit scored well outside America because we don't hate black people as much as your average american does, it's not rocket science. (Not sayin' racism ain't a issue here, we're just mostly pissed off at other ethnic minorities.)
Either way, i do agree Norbit still doesnt compare to TF's success.

Wow, see, I never would have associated people thinking Norbit being a hit a surprise with racism...I'd associate it more with the fact that it looked like an absolutely mind numbing piece of crap.

I've got to agree with Nuclear Convoy. The movie just did not grab anyones interest here in the states. Race really isn't much of an issue here anymore, it's more about attitude and content of character when it comes to dealing with other people. Of course there are those like myself who have a very universal viewpoint. I'm not racist, sexist or prone to discriminating on any other level...I'm an A**hole thefore I hate everybody equally!
