Variety is reporting that the Academy Awards may finally be lifting its ban on movie promotion during the Academy Awards ceremony and hints at the possibility of previews of upcoming films shown during the commercial breaks of the February '09 ceremony, with obvious choices being summer blockbuster films like G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra and, of course, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen.

Nothing in confirmed at this point, but keep checking back to seibertron.com for more information as to whether or not there could be any potential preview of the Transformers Movie sequel during the Oscars ceremony, currently scheduled for February 22nd 2009.

See the report on Variety.com by clicking here.

The showcase of never-before-seen spots for, say, next year’s tentpoles like "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen," "G.I. Joe" and "Terminator Salvation," could be a highly promotable element for next year’s telecast — especially as the Oscars are looking to rebound from this year’s record-low aud of 32 million viewers.

Next year’s telecast is set for Feb. 22 on ABC. The "Dreamgirls" duo of Bill Condon and Laurence Mark have been tapped as first-time Oscarcast producers.

I'm still never going to forgive them for letting a bunch of agnostic killing machines beat TFs. :BLEND:

All they need to do now is to take back the mistake about giving the award to talking polar bears.

I recently saw the Golden Compass, it was truly awful. Not because I don't like the idea of a film criticizing organised religion... but because the movie is just a complete mess.

And really, the CGI wasn't that great, it just reminded me of those old Coca-Cola commercials:

The academy awards needs to be taken down a peg, they don't know good movies anymore. I mean Crash won best picture, did you see that? The whole movie was about people getting pissed and mouthing off, it was like Springer without chairs getting thrown. Thats why People aren't watching.
