i have that feeling that every movie media in north america underestimated transformers.look at their top 5 most have spiderman 3,shreck 3,pirates 3,evan almighty or ratatouille but none have transformers.yes i am a fan of transformers but many factors make me believe it could be in the top 3 of the summer:a large fan base around the world, maybe larger than star wars, cartoon which never stop to run with new serie every 3-4 years, always new toys, the first time will see robots transform will look amazing for anyone,2-3 generation of boys who grown with transformers,ILM making f/x,michael bay, optimus vs megatron and certainly a great coming trailer!

i think it's going to kick some butt and surprise a lot!

It's a common rule that no one is supposed to compare Transformers to Star Wars. Star Wars outclasses Transformers on every conceivable aspect.

But I do think this movie will prove successful. People on the street seem to like it. (I've heard non-fans saying it looks awesome) It probably won't be the biggest hit with the fans, though. Like Star Wars I and II.

Really? Because I've seen several lists of the most anticipated films of the summer and Transformers had been in the top 3 in the majority of them if not all. On Yahoo it's 2nd behind Spiderman.

I'd say Transformers will be in the top 3 films of summer, where exactly will depend on how good it is, it will be a tough ask to beat the likes of Pirates or Shrek.

It's also up against the Fifth Harry Potter movie.

You know, the books that have outsold the Bible. (Which is very funny, considering a lot of evangelists views on it.)

Actually Transformers isn't in the top 3. As my local newspaper put it as the top 3 films for the guys along with Fantastic Four 2. Transformers will do as well as that, rake in a lot of money, but fail to get good ratings from critics. Heck, Spidey 3 got 2 out of 4 stars from the Associated Press. Shrek 3 will appeal to kids, Transformers I can see failing to appeal to kids. As for Transformers having a larger fanbase than Star Wars? Look I'll make it really simply; Transformers is Star Wars whipping boy. Only thing that can give Star Wars a run for it's money in fanbase size is Star Trek.

ironically enough, although it's common knowledge that my expectations for the quality of the movie strongly disagree with yours, i would also use the first two star wars prequels as examples of what i expect from this film. after lots of hype, it has a great opening, but once they've seen it it's hailed as a disappointment by fans, critics, and the general public alike.

Yep, even in annoying characters that everyone wants to see dead.

Jar Jar is far worse then Wheelie could ever be. Really all three of the prequel movies sucked.

As for the Transformers movie. I'm excited to see it. And I have no doubt I'll end up seeing it two or three times with different groups of friends when it hits theaters.
