Michael Bay Confirms 3rd Transformers Movie!!

When asked if he would be interested in doing a third movie in the Transformers series or move on to a different franchise Michael Bay had this to say "I could see myself doing a third movie, but I want to take a year off no matter what." Michael Bay also states that Transformers 2 currently is running for 2 hours and 20 minutes but Michael is still hard at work in the editing room. Michael will shave the unnecessary jargon down and out. My guess is we will probably get a movie that runs a little over two hours. Which is great.

Some people didn't like the way Michael Bay handled the first installment of the Transformers franchise. Some would say all he does is blow things up and its all rubbish. But that point of view is to far from the truth when it comes to Transformers. I went to see Transformers opening weekend and it was the first movie I have sat in were people cheered when Optimus Prime introduced himself since Spiderman. The character content was there, Shia and Megan turned in good performances as did the rest of the cast, and seeing Starscream transform in mid flight to destroy a couple of F16's and then transform back into a jet and take off again was freeking awesome.

I'm excited to see Transformers 2 and I'm also happy that this isn't the end of the journey. I could sit through endless Transformer movies as long as it has a decent script and Megan Fox is working underneath my hood:)

As a matter of fact in the interview Michael Bay confirmed that he might work on the third movie. He did not promiss anything. I just hope that everything's gonna be ok and after a year we will see first unofficial pics from the set of Transformers 3 :D

I went on the opening day. When Optimus transformed for the first time, everyone cheered. When Bumblebee and Barricade had their throwdown, everyone cheered. When Optimus and Megatron fought, everyone cheered. When Starscream went to town on those F-22s... you get the idea.
Everywhere here, I see people whining on how the movie sucked, the action sucked, the designs sucked, Michael Bay sucks, anyone who liked the movie sucked... on and on and on. But those cheers tell me different.

Anyway, rant over. I knew that they were gonna do a third one, but I hadn't heard that Michael was for sure going to direct it. Can't wait, personally.

Transformers movies are something you have to see over and over again to totally understand what is going on. I saw it once in the movies, then I waited for the DVD, I feel bad for all those people who are impatient and keep going back to the movies to see TF1 over and over and over again. Then they buy the DVD and see it really wasn't all that great of a movie. This new TF seems like it may be worse then the first. Ill wait for the DVD.

There are so many bad movies being release that i think ANY Transformers movie will be better than most of the other rubbish that is being generated. I can't wait to see the upcoming movie and I can't wait for the 3rd to come out. Any version is better than No version, IMO.

Well all I can say is this had better be the last one in the series, I dont really want to go down the same path as Star Wars.

I remember back when Bay was doing the first movie, I saw a video interview (can't remember if it was on the web or t.v.)where he stated that Transformers is entended to be a Trilogy. He also went on to say that depending on the success of the movies, he would consider doing a 3rd,4th & 5th sequel and so on....

Yeah, trilogy is usually a good stopping point. James Bond pulled off 22 movies, George Lucas usually screws up by his fourth. (I dunno, I liked the prequel trilogy, but surviving a nuclear blast in a fridge? C'mon.)

Transformers is one of those things where it really could go for more movies, and while I really like the movie series, I think a third one is a good stopping point. Then maybe in a decade a new director will do a reboot, and do his spin on it, and we can all complain about that.

Maybe it's because I spend my life around words, but Bay saying he 'could see himself' doing another movie is not exactly 'movie confirmed' in my book. That would sound more like 'dude, we've got a script and I'm already making calls to (fill in exotic locale here) for filming permission and we've got the C4 on standing order'.

I wouldn't mind him doing a third movie, but agree that third should probably end it. I like over-the-top explosions as much as the next girl, but I think another director or even another format (like a total CGI movie with no people at all) would allow other parts of the Transformers universe to get showcased--I don't want Bay's fingerprints on everything. It would be different if the Transformers were his own intellectual property (the way the Star Wars universe is *owned* by Lucas). The TransUniverse is so darn big and has so much scope that it's unfair to funnel and promulgate only one 'vision' of it in celluloid.

I also have to say that it's a keen marketing move all of the comic book/graphic novel tie ins with the movie. Comics unfold at a slower pace and have a completely different audience experience than a movie (I can go back and reread and linger on a page as long as I like, for example), so I could see the Bayformers continuing a downright *saga* in print, but that would just be intolerable onscreen.

HK, anti-monopoly.

I think it'd be awesome if he stuck around for the 3rd. He did really awesome on the first, and by the looks of it the second.
