I've been asking this around in a few forums now and wanted to know what you guys think.

Judging from Michael Bay, and the footage that has been released; we should be cheering anytime a Transformer gets to speak...let alone a Decepticon!

Now, it seems the Sam(shia) and Mikaela (Fox) character are like the main characters in this film. Do you guys think that she was picked for her acting skills or just for plain eye-candy?

I say eye-candy, cuz I've seen her acting... :)

1. Of course the humans are the focus. The audience needs something to relate to. In the sequel, expect more bots.

2. Mikey's been adding lines for all the Transformers. We'll get plenty of lines from both sides. Hence why they hire VOICE ACTORS, Hugo Weaving and Keith David don't play roles where they get one or two lines.

3. Just don't let this turn into the Perv-O Thread.

This has no context, ergo, it makes no sense.

Okay, Conceptron...what's your deal with Megan Fox? So she might not be the best actress out there. So what? This is freaking Transformers. Just be happy they're even making this movie. Plus, she's hot, so its all gravy.

Of course Megan was just picked for eye candy, I think that's pretty obvious. When people don't have enough faith in their movies, they do the only thing they can. Get big stars and/or hot guys and gals. That way even if it sucks they're guaranteed in people coming.

So what does it mean when good movies have big stars and/or hot guys and gals?

I relate it to getting an ice cream cone in your favorite flavor. And then having it double dipped. You were happy before, but the extra stuff just doubles your enjoyment.

Um...the same thing? I'm almost certain, if you walked up to anyone in the movie making business, they'd be honest. The only reason most movies cling on to stars is to guarentee an audience(and nightwatcher pointed out, will make things even more fun).

Sure sometimes the movies are great. Some really attractive people CAN act and have been put into well written stories. Usually though? Pft...look at all these CGI films coming out anymore. Over the Hedge, Shark Tale, Happily N'Ever After, etc. I know there are more, but these are a few that just came to mind. Are any of them honestly good? Most people seem to agree they're either mediocre or just plain crap. The only reason they scored so high for anything was because of all the big names in them.

So actors act in movies they are hired for, sometimes for money, sometimes because they like the script, and those movies are either great, good, mediocre, bad, or horrible?

Honestly I really enjoyed Over the Hedge and Shark Tale. Haven't seen the other one you mentioned there. But lets be honest, they are children's cartoon movies. And their target audience doesn't care who the actors are that voice the characters. A friend of mine has bought two copies of Sharks Tale because his kid loved it so much that they actually wore out the first copy, and his kids are to young to even know who Will Smith is. you really can't compare a live action film to a cartoon as far as how they pick the actors.

On the other hand most big name actors get that wy because they have at least some talent. People who can't act might get a few lucky breaks, but they don't last long.

Megan Fox is part of this movie for the eye candy. She's just starting her career as is Shia. Time will tell about her acting skills.

I see Conceptron's rampage continues here.

I just got booted from the Don Murphy forum after hanging around there for way too long because I linked to some unflattering pictures of Megan Fox on one of Don's threads. I guess I pushed his buttons a bit too far after re-editing my post to contain the same links, but did it only after he edited my post to say "I'm a douche". And now I'm apparently also a monkey.

Just in case I'm going to refrain from posting those same links here. Even though she was fully clothed on them.
