the new movie I think is very great but what I don't get is who are the new transformers. I have never seen them before I'm not sure if the transformers are from generation 1.

There are other continuities other than G1. And most of them were in G1, they just rarely showed up or had a different alt-mode. Most of the characters are just a recycle of a name, like Blackout or Bonecrusher.

as said above they just have a common name, they have names from g1 but are different characters so yeah just think of them as new characters.

Think of it as a different continuity.
