Bumblebee trying to be Hotshot?

Is BB's look in the movies supposed to be a Hotshot like Charicter?

I belive he is...
For example, in the 84 TF series BB was a VW bug, and was a very calm and collected Charicter... and if I remember correctly HS was a yellow, rambunctious sportscar...
so my Question is, why don't they just make him HS? is it because they wanted the original charicters? and if so why wasn't BB a VW bug and have his classic personallity?

I am in no way putting down the movie, I love they way the were done and I think BB is great, I just think he is a knock-off Hot shot... :D

I dunno if you know this, but there is a character like Hot Rod in every series; Cheetor in BW and Beast Machines, Sideburn in RiD, Hot Shot in the Unicron Trilogy. They chose Bumblebee probably because he was the first "friendly kid-appeal type."

Personally, I think this was pretty much the only positive thing the writers did with the first movie. They made Bumblebee a badass. After Grimlock, Hot Rod (or Rodimus Prime) is my favorite character in G1, and I was happy to see his type of personality in the movie.

Hot shot was molded after Hot Rod but they could not use the Hot Rod Name. If they were still able to use the name Hot Rod there would be no Hot shot it would have been Hot Rod.

I wonder why. Other characters' names were allowed...

Really? Like little kids who watch the show would get that innuendo. And those of us older folks who do, it's not like that show introduced us to it...if that's seriously the reason, it's lame and retarded. If you're just...saying stuff... :(
