Movie Related Botherings! [Spoilerators]

A couple of things that have been on my mind about the movie, wanted to know peoples' thoughts.

First off, are they really taking the cheap avenue and reusing an animation model for a new character? This business with Blackout being recoloured somewhat as Grindor. This is supposed to be a big budget movie and they're using that old trick from the cartoon days? Does anyone not think that's a bit.. off? In some way? I mean, apparently Grindor isn't even explained, just showing up and getting on with it. Wouldn't it have been easier to just hint that Blackout was revived along with Megatron? This would also explain why a Buffalo Mine Sweeper is (apparently) seen in the film's climax. A single line to hint that the Constructicons worked on some other bots too would've gone so far. As it stands, this seems confusing and unnecessary. We could argue that "Some cybertronians share body types", but this doesn't stand when we remember why Skywarp and Thundercracker didn't make it in (with the same designs, at least).

As a side query, is Grindor explained in any ancillary media? Comics? Not had a chance to read.

The other thing is, Prime. I know this is Bay we're talking about here but does it bother anyone else how insanely blood thirsty and merciless he seems? The idea that Prime commands a team of Autobots to literally hunt down Decepticons like they were some kind of feral animal is... well... I appreciate that lives are at stake and the Decepticons probably shouldn't be given the chance to strike first, but that's what defines a character - When, even faced with great risks, their underlying characteristics and traits show through - That, even standing before a wild Decepticon, Prime might still offer them a chance to reform in some way, trying to maintain a peace by example.

I'm not blaming anyone, or saying "grr! This isn't right!", just airing some opinions and thoughts and wondered what others might be thinking.

In a week and a half all of our questions will be answered.

It is already answered for me, I just watched the movie, honestly, it is not as bad as I thought it would be, but I think they could have done a little better though. It is better than TF1, but not way better. I will watch it a couple more times today to get a better idea of things in the plot I may not have noticed in my first viewing. All in all if you are a fan of the Classic 86 Film, TF2 is tolerable.

The Grindor/Blackout thing didn't really bother me, it was cool to see that style of character coming into these movies. A lot of parts of the movie reminded me of the cartoon. I actually chuckled to myself like "thats a scene from the cartoons." Prime does not seem all that different to me. He actually seems to be the most consistent character of them all, Bumblebee is like the orange banded ninja turtle lol. All of Starscreams scenes were really good though. He has some sort of new paint job. It is not the blue and red stuff from the Real Transformers, but its like a camo color he has. Its kinda hard to see when he is flying. Id give it a 6 out of 10.

OK, so for the rest of us that's like 9/10 or 10/10. Cool.

And Scatterlung, Prime fighting 3 Cons like a maddog is nothing new to those of us who enjoy the 86 movie. Matter of fact, I am looking forward to Prime laying the smack down. And the assbeating he gets as a result of it.

Sign #138 that the Apocalypse is nigh.

Yeah, he didn't exactly try to talk anyone down in the '86 movie. He just shot everyone who wasn't an Autobot before fighting Megatron to the death, who he intended to execute upon his apparent victory.

Yeah, until a certain someone decided to be a tough guy...

Hey, as long as they make Blackout/Grindor into a larger more detailed and nicer mold, then...sure, why not?
